If Trump is serious about tariffs on movies, it's a very dangerous escalation. Tariffs have not traditionally been applied to services, and the United States is a massive net exporter of services. We would be extremely vulnerable to any service-based retaliation.

Later this month, Canada will have the privilege of welcoming Their Majesties The King and Queen to Canada — where His Majesty King Charles III will deliver Canada’s speech from the throne. This historic honour matches the weight of our times.

~The whining never stops.

I think the cons gained seats because a lot of people have been conned by the outrageous amount of far-right noise everywhere filling their heads just like in the U.S. It's a huge issue and unless something can be done, I only see it getting worse. It is terrifying, we barely escaped it this time.

youtu.be/pCMNOKBJ6Zw Hey Canadian 🇨🇦 friends This is how our voting system works Compulsory and on a Saturday to maximise voting and preferential, not first past the post

Good Night World

That and the Science article "NIH under siege" has me think US medical research is toast www.science.org/content/arti...

One race in Newfoundland was won by 12 votes, many others across Canada were won with less than 100 votes. EVERY VOTE MATTERS! Please remember this for all future elections.

We have a pro-EU PM now, it's time to start contemplating the next step. Together, with our friends in Europe we can become an Arctic / Resource superpower.

Fact Checked: In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter. He could’ve released a crayon drawing as their plan and the hardcore right would still praise it 🙄 No real plan, just raging lies, ranting insults and an endless obsession with JT 🤭 #NeverPoiLIEvre #neverCONServative #VOTELPC

Not going to lie… Doing The National and Le Téléjournal on the same night? Makes me think of my late dad. He would have been proud. 🥹

Ads with Stephen Harper are blasting on radio stations, TV stations everywhere, isn't a good idea he's just as hated as Pierre. Desperation is setting in. #NeverPoilievre

PAY ATTENTION: PP is trying to do the exact same thing here in canada with his promises to use the notwithstanding clause. Driven by Harper and IDU, his policies are premeditated ultimately to end in authoritarian rule. DONT FORGET TO VOTE! #neverCONServative #NeverPoiLIEvre #IDU #voteliberal

Just in case it has been forgotten… Pierre Poilievre entered into a Compliance Agreement with Elections Canada. In it, he admits to “knowingly circumventing the prohibition on contributions to a registered party by ineligible contributors”. He tried to get around contribution laws and failed.

So, I just watched the end of the debate. Poilievre, the man who voted against school meals for hungry children, was talking about people not being able to pay their bills, feed their famlies. So why not ensure hungry kids get at least one meal on school days. What he says is not what he votes.

Carney is unflappable, they're trying to derail him but he's cool and calm, looks like a leader. Poilievre has had some good moments, Singh has done well, but Carney has the air of a crisis manager, he's showing it how he's handling the barrage coming his way tonight. A statesman. #cdnpoli

Having Rebel 'News' and their disinformation spewing cousins pollute the airwaves with their questions in the post-debate scrum is an affront to real journalism and democracy. If it's the threat of a lawsuit that let them in, keep 'em out and let them sue. #CdnPoli ca.news.yahoo.com/rebel-news-o...

THIS IS WHAT A TRADE WAR LOOKS LIKE -

NBC News: A federal judge just issued a final judgement and permanent injunction against the Trump admin — ruling that the National Institutes of Health must continue funding research grants at their original, full amounts.  @msnbc.com

This is inaccurate. There is no known vulnerability with Signal's core tech. The memo was discussing phishing attempts, which Signal has worked to mitigate. And it was hastily reported. It's important not to spread misinfo that can confuse people into moving away from meaningfully private comms.

“President Trump is bound by the laws of this nation, and those laws do not permit him to use wartime powers when the United States is not at war and has not been invaded to remove individuals from the country with no process at all.” Sounds right to me! www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Thanks, Keir, for the warm welcome at 10 Downing Street.    At a time of great consequence for our country — one in which our sovereignty has been called into question — alliances and friendships like ours matter.

My thanks to His Majesty King Charles III for his warm welcome and gracious hospitality today. Canada is fortunate to have a steadfast defender in our sovereign.

When people talk about "American Exceptionalism" they now usually mean that Americans are exceptionally bad a running a country.

Social Security. That's when the dam breaks. The right-wing in America is so extreme, so zealous, so morally bankrupt and greedy that they'll gut SS and Medicaid even though they know it'll destroy their base. People won't truly wake up until those checks don't come. A lot of pain, sadly.

The funny thing is that "cafe Americano" was coined as something of an insult—a term for watered-down coffee
