“My heart is moved by all I cannot save:
so much has been destroyed
I have to cast my lot with those
who age after age, perversely,
with no extraordinary power,
reconstitute the world.”
from Dream of a Common Language (1978) by Adrienne Rich

It’s true! FDR was the last president who enacted something that ameliorated capitalism but didn’t challenge it at its roots. Obama’s health care was the slightest of attempts but he reinforced rapacious capitalism overall.

He’s not comparing Obama to Trump emotionally spiritually morally! And race is clearly a huge part of the class system. But Harris Obama Clinton Bush Trump - all of them are firm believers in capitalism. Sanders is the only major candidate for president who has publicly advocated for mild socialism

Check out skeets (a sort of alternative interface for bluesky). If you catch the error quickly enough you can edit it on skeets.

Got to watch the whole thing to get the full flavor of the amazing Sara Nelson! She reminds me that Iceland – the only European country to put actual bankers in prison after the 2008 bank scandal - elected the lesbian head of their flight attendants union as national president

Anything they want, hide it or mislabel it. Anything they plug in, unplug it. Remove light bulbs. Move cubicles around so they hide some of the doors and when they leave the room move them again so they hide different doors. Play really loud music. Think like a cat and sabo tabby yourself a mess

It does feel totally like national socialism.

Very helpful to know and circulate. Democracy had some big wins in court today, too.

I’ll be the third to ask if you will make some version of your syllabus public. 🙏🏼 Whether you do or don’t, thank you so much for your work!

back when I was a undergraduate at a very middle class college in 1968, they stopped campus protests against the Vietnam war by offering free ice cream in the dining halls 🙄🤣😢

I’m doing the same thing, but with my old fb account. I go directly to the pages I want to see, both groups and individuals.

I tried MEWE a few years ago and got discouraged because there was no critical mass.
I think bluesky has been fueled by people who just couldn’t stand what Twitter had devolved into…
And Facebook people - the ones who are leaving – are just following the crowd swell

This is an utterly chilling quote, thank you for sharing it
