I agree. I'm also not a fan of Merz but I really thought the chancellor vote was more of a formality so to see it fail came as a big surprise and speaks of much wider problems.

This is because the media presents them as a mainstream party and gives them an overwhelming amount of airtime. If the media gave a similar amount of airtime to the Greens or even Lib Dems I think the result would have been very different.

The UK host mentioned we are having a heatwave in the UK at the moment to which the Australian reporter replied That 25C must be difficult for you. I have to admit I do miss the Aussie sense of humour at times.
