Dolphins and Spurs fan here. I'd say best of luck for tonight, but I'd clearly not mean it 😁
Let's just say I wish you sporadic highs, but ultimately ending in failure. A bit like a Grier roster build.

To paraphrase...when Fascism comes to the UK, it won't be wearing jackboots, it'll be dressed in a suit and with slick back hair, defending the indefensible in dulcet tones...

Reeves made a complete fool of herself with that response. Rayner felt she needed to smile....inside she was probably calling him a merchant banker.

Re-election and that's all. He's even ****ing that up.

Spot on. Unfortunately, Focus Groups outcomes are one dimensional. Starmer and Labour's brain trust are missing what most, even casual, follows of politics know. Namely, that feeding the Right Wing beast only ends with being consumed oneself.
No courage. No realism. Hugely disappointing from Labour

Taxes, as a means of redistribution from the rich to the poor, are a good thing.

Well done Mike - had a little sneak on Sovereignty too and won a few quid as a result. Kudos

Imagine a radical Labour Party. Imagine the change we could all see. So sad.

Anyone who thinks this just demonstrates childishness or immaturity is missing the point. They know exactly what they're doing. This plays to their base. Underestimate them at your peril for what they're trying to do isn't confined to the US.

Surely an oxymoron?

Fans need to stop attending / buying merc....until meaningful change happens.

In all my years (decades) as a dolphins fan, I've never been as down on the team/franchise. It's such a shame. Until Grier goes, it's all for naught.

....or DL, or Safety, or OL.
Nothing changes until Grier is pushed 'upstairs' (aka out the door)

How Starmer is not a Tory/Reform stooge at this point is beyond me

Half of America is.
The other half is as thick as pig shit...and that's about as polite as I can make it.

The problem is, the United States we've been closely cooperating with for the last several decades, isn't the same United States we're confronted with now. All that being said, it's quite possible (probably I'd say) that Starmer knows this.
The real question is, what's going on behind the scenes?
comment in response to

Spot on. So called journalism is facilitating the descent into autocracy
comment in response to

That's certainly a valid view. I disagree, I think Starmer knows exactly what's going on. Have a great rest of your day.

Where have I suggested that this US government is an ally? And I'm not suggesting it's a binary choice; it's diplomacy / realpolitik. Not sure I can help you further.
comment in response to
post
See emphasis of 'AT THIS TIME' in OP (and reply on thread).
I'm neither representing Starmer's actions, or my own preference, as anything other than a short term tactic rather than a long term strategy.
comment in response to
post
Yep, that's the risk / danger with Starmer's approach, the line / intent needs to be clear and completely understood within his inner circle. I think his approach to Putin / Russia gives me some comfort that fundamentally he's on the right side of this. Let's hope so. Nice chatting with you.
comment in response to
post
I understand your point completely. It's not binary however. To maintain our nuclear deterrent / intelligence capability & have the ability to support Ukraine / stand up to Putin requires short term diplomacy. Of course we shouldn't cosy up to Fascism, but I don't think that's what this is about.
comment in response to
post
Yeah, I also get all that. It's a tough one isn't it? I think when something will do serious damage is the line, balanced against playing for time (which I think Starmer is).
MTG and the rest of the MAGA cabal are just grim. The worst of humanity. Trumps Press Sec winds me up so much as well!
comment in response to
post
I'm no fan of Starmer but he is doing what's right for the UK AT THIS TIME. He is putting the UK first, not Canada, not Mexico, not Greenland. Like it or not, that is his job. Carney would do exactly the same. The UK is entangled militarily and intelligence wise. Tariffs don't hurt the UK as much.

Is he referring to Goldberg as a phone contact, or 49.9% of the US Electorate?
