Time Magazine named him man of the year for 2024 based at least on his influence for those who support or those who oppose the man. They wrote, "Supporters cheer even his promises to take revenge on his enemies and dismantle the government." It's been a month and 2 days. Just under 47 months to go.

Let’s consider the inflammatory rhetoric of the current President of the United States that could quite easily be tied to the threats on VP Pence, the assault on Nancy Pelosi’s husband, the entire Jan 2020 attack on the capital. Perhaps I’ve misunderstood but it feels like pot calling kettle…?

Ruthlessly is an overstatement there were also clearly shots of Canadians singing the anthems which is not uncommon. However the US VP’s comments about Canada and the 51st State foolishness…enough of that

Let’s see last time (Jan 6 2020) this type of stuff led to an attack on Congress. What does this allow or empower? It’s been a minute but what was the ruling of the US Supreme (only supreme in the US) Court as to “crimes” committed as President?

What platform was this on? Such a sad state of affairs

A statement to start a conversation? Or like the present day Press Secretary definition of fact illustrated by the unilateral claim related to the Gulf of Mexico? This defining of “fact” being “because I said so”.

100% seems a bit low for someone who has made an additional (reported) 170 Billion since the election. Though why someone would buy this…?

Feels like there was a time when this thing called “evidence” was really important. Facts mattered and “truth” or telling the truth was supported by facts. Fiction is a genre, as is Non Fiction

I've replied to and supported suggestions from @mcuban.bsky.social that we need to work on our tone and approach in dealing with the highly charged environment politically; I tried something in response to this article. An invitation to ponder. bit.ly/42M7aPu

As an educator how might you use this article to build understanding of everything that is wrong with this politician’s comments?

This is why it is so important to work at expressing frustrations or differences with language that makes the point while being respectful. www.dignity.us it’s hard when what they are saying seems bat crap crazy and is hurting, no doubt, however…call out, and invite up. (Easier said than done.)

Not much news in the way of protests, I don’t have a “truth social” account, it’s such an odd name and the notion of “retruths” and sign up for the “truth” feels weird like when someone says, “if I’m being honest…” what does that say about the rest of the time. The Musk team seems very odd.

Security clearance and Security detail are not the same. Correct…one means he is on the outside and not provided security updates is that not an historic courtesy that was previously removed from DT? If President Biden’s security detail was or is also removed that is entirely a different issue.

Robert there appears to be a sector of the population, not fellow Billionaires of the Tesla owner, who either don’t believe this or think it’s ok and they too should not pay taxes. How many States have no State tax? Equality of opportunity in have less States…?

Can this be contrasted with the proposal for the people of Gaza also from the President of the United States, in layman’s terms.

Accommodation for the advanced party? Meals? Tickets likely “free” though an expense against lost revenue.
Why do it, no other president has.
Hope for safety all around but doubtless others experience is negatively impacted even if just for the motorcade.

Ground Transport: Presidential motorcades and secure vehicles add additional costs, likely exceeding $50,000.

Air Travel: Operating Air Force One costs about $200,000 per hour. A round-trip flight from Washington, D.C., to New Orleans (approximately 4 hours total) would cost around $800,000.

Security
Enhanced security measures for a sitting president at a SEAR Level 1 event involve hundreds of Secret Service agents, rooftop snipers, bomb-sniffing dogs, and advanced surveillance systems. This could cost tens of millions of dollars, with estimates ranging from $10 million to $25 million?

I believe this will prove to be a regrettable move. Betting no better than a play in team as the locker room is lost.
