it’s hilarious how quickly some in the political media have jumped on the framing of whether the ndp wants to be the ā€œconscience of parliamentā€ (embracing the left, is assumed to mean you can never win popular support) or a real contender for government to try to drive it more to the centre

Just to be really crystal clear, of the ridings in Edmonton where Liberal candidates came in second to Conservatives, ALL of them would have ended up with the same results even if every single NDP supporter had "voted strategically" for the Liberal option.

Working with Blake Desjarlais has been the greatest honour of my life so far. While a loss is still a loss and this is going to hurt for a very long time, I’m proud of what we did in Edmonton Griesbach and that he gave a voice to so many people who had never felt represented before he was their MP.

I love my home province so much, and it always breaks my heart. Living in Alberta is like living in a country song.

One big loss for the community tonight is Two Spirit MP Blake Desjarlais from Edmonton Griesbach He was the inaugural co-chair of the Canadian Pride Caucus, a multi-partisan group of 2SLGBTQIA+ MPs and Senators in Parliament. 2021 interview here www.ctvnews.ca/politics/art...

Jagmeet Singh needs to get his ass to Edmonton Griesbach to support incumbent NDP candidate Blake Desjarlais. It’s a neck & neck race there. Please Liberal voters, just this once, vote NDP on Monday to ensure the CONservatives don’t win your riding. Help stop Trumpian politics! VOTE for šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

Some rare federal politics content from us: On this week's Progress Report podcast, we chat with possibly Alberta's smartest political commentator, Dave Cournoyer, and then possibly Alberta's smartest elected official, Blake Desjarlais.

From texts to DMs to posts online, messages of support are pouring in! Let’s keep building on our progress — together.

So many politicians opt to disengage from community and dissapear from view, @blakedesjarlais.bsky.social has been tireless in standing up for our communities alongside us in our riding, and in parliament! Let's not swap that for Kerry Diotte please! 😭 #cdnpoli

This is great messaging. To be clear, a vote for Blake *is* the strategic vote in Edmonton Griesbach.

We've been so blessed to have such an engaged and active representative, a far cry from the years of being represented by Conservatives who showed up neither in the riding, or in Ottawa. I dearly hope he wins again, going back to Diotte is deeply unappealing. #cdnpoli

We’re not at all entitled to it, and it’s not a given. We’re working hard to earn every vote here in Edmonton Griesbach — the Liberals should try it sometime!

I just want to announce that after three straight days of smacking my forehead with this ball peen hammer, I have now decided to stop. Maybe. I mean I might start again soon. And it was very good that I did it. Please clap.

Come on folks… the LPC candidate has been invisible and they are losing what momentum they had in this riding… Tell everyone you know Blake has to be the guy or we lose to Diotte smartvoting.ca/ridings/fede... #cdnpoli #Federalelection25 #greisbach

It's not a real Canadian election until someone pees in a homeowner's mug.

Conservatives confident attacking female journalist will distract from Poilievre’s comments about women’s ā€œbiological clocksā€

Voters living in Edmonton Griesbach intending to vote for the Liberal Party of Canada | Parti libƩral du Canada should really get behind the NDP candidate for that riding, Blake Desjarlais, and not split the progressive vote. Otherwise, the MAGA booster Kerry Diotte will likely win that riding.

This has never been about me, but us. Let’s win this, together. 🧔

Federally, overall, I am a Liberal, and Mark Carney is excellent. But in my Edmonton Griesbach riding we have an amazing NDP incumbent, Blake Desjarlais, and I’ll be voting and volunteering for him. I would go a lot further than that to keep that genital wart Diotte from reclaiming the seat.

Hey. Did you know polling stations are open already? I just voted at Edmonton Griesbach in Londonderry Mall.

"we, your representatives, can do nothing and we plan to do nothing" is just not very inspiring, whether it's said by chuck schumer or bernie sanders.1

NEW: A couple days ago, Breakdown host Nate Pike announced that he was being court ordered to wipe the Alberta politics show from the web as part of a libel lawsuit from a well-connected Alberta businessman. This development should concern all journalists. open.substack.com/pub/theorcha...

This is another reason using ChatGPT at all — even just for editing or to make a word limit — is a horrible idea.

Don't debate whether Canada should be 1 US state or 10 or 13 if you think the answer is that we shouldn't join at all.
