So they removed the black chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the middle of his 4-year tour, without cause, and they're seeking to replace him with a white **retired** Air Force three-star general who lacks the requisite experience as a service chief or combatant commander? Huh, how about that

One of the oldest arguments against workplace diversity was that qualified white men would be passed over for unqualified or incompetent members of equity groups, which of course presumed that no one in those disadvantaged groups could themselves ever be qualified hires.

The party of Mary Miller and Unite the Right and Musk's support for the AfD and Trump's praise for Hitler's generals wants us to believe this this was misunderstood. But the neo-Nazis in the US understood exactly what he meant. So did the rest of us. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Illegally cutting cancer research and meals on wheels to pay for PR ads for themselves.

If you support this, you’re an awful human being

This is very, very bad. Am working on a write-up, but let’s just say that firing military leaders for blatantly political reasons is wildly inappropriate; firing all the too lawyers is ominous; firing them all at the same time is a terrifying five-alarm fire

When taking actions late on a Friday night, a government sends a message its trying to pull one over on the public and the media, that it is hiding something or doing something it believes it should not do or will be seen as controversial. That is certainly true in this case.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

So they've reached down and gotten someone who has never been a service chief or a combatant commander. And who comes out of the special ops which is full of cowboys.

I’m shocked.

This is climate arson, yes, but also the entire value proposition of Tesla, the reason for its insane stock price, is that it would end up the Amazon of electric cars: the only real game in town. Killing off non-Tesla electric car infrastructure is a gift to Musk.

Remember this press conference Trump did promising to bring prices down? www.c-span.org/program/camp...

Trump to shut down all 8,000 EV charging ports at federal govt buildings

I know this isn't the point, but in so many videos of Trump, he's just a jerk to people. I never can understand why his "Christian" supporters are OK with this. If Hillary said something nasty once, it was front pages for weeks. With Trump we just expect it, so apparently that's OK? I don't get it.

I was at a meeting last night, and someone brought up DEI. One of my friends said "what's that?" I was shocked that she didn't know, while also being so jealous that she's not going through all the crap that us "news followers" are. Sometimes I really would love blissful ignorance.

translating everything regardless of context into Upper East Side politesse is not only an extremely weird psychological trait but is fundamentally at odds with the journalistic imperative to report the truth

WOW "Seven western Wisconsin Republican lawmakers did not appear at an event hosted by the Wisconsin Farmers Union in Chippewa Falls Friday as farmers from the area said they were concerned about the effect that President Donald Trump’s first month in office is having on their livelihoods." ⤵️

TRUMP: The NCAA has complied immediately. That's good. But I understand Maine -- is the governor of Maine here? JANET MILLS: Yeah I'm here TRUMP: Are you not gonna comply? JM: I'm going to comply with state and federal law T: You better do it bc you're not gonna get any federal funding at all

While it's true that Democrats in Congress -- and especially the House -- have relatively little power right now, what they can do is use their local offices to find people suffering from Trump's policies, like this caller, and lift up their voices and tell their stories

Musk shadowbanned her.

the fact that this is just a straightforward retelling of yesterday's events without hyperbole

A US diplomat who can't reassure our ALLIES that we are on their side is bad at diplomacy. Whether he's incompetent or just afraid to put the US interests ahead of Trump's is moot. The Secretary of State is a job that demands more talent than he possesses. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/20/u...

the DOGE Nazi teens apparently had no idea that the biggest beneficiary of DEI-type programs is veterans www.cnn.com/2025/02/20/p...

This is so important. Share this, even with your Trump supporting friends.

Usually, it's fine to skip the House budget resolution. But not this year. Here's a guide to the budget that kicks off the Republicans' one-big-bill strategy: www.nytimes.com/interactive/... @aliciaparlap.bsky.social

The words and actions of America’s leaders show they believe that having dark skin or having a vagina is a reason a person shouldn’t be allowed to pilot a plane, while having a drinking or drug problem is not. That’s their priority, and they’re fine with the flying public suffering the consequences.

Great, Thx Donald! For making trip w the family this summer to Lake Erie seem like it's outta The X Files. Seriously, another example of the random STOOPID of cutting govt you know nothing about, nor care not one shit about, You poll-dancing-for-Putin, clementine-colored knob.

At the end of his CPAC speech, Steve Bannon exclaimed “Fight! Fight! Fight!”, raised his arm in a brief Nazi salute gesture, brought his arm down, nodded his head at the crowd, and then said, “Amen!”

Jesus. The video is underneath this. More fucking Nazi salutes.

NEW: The Justice Department now says Donald Trump’s sweeping pardons for Jan. 6 rioters covers unrelated gun charges some faced after the FBI searched their homes. It’s moving to drop felony charges against Daniel Ball and Elias Costianes. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

The top 1% evades $163 billion in taxes each year and many Fortune 500 companies pay an effective tax rate of 0%. President Musk is cutting 6000, mostly enforcement, jobs at the IRS because he feels the rich aren’t exploiting the system enough. Grift.

A former commander of an International Space Station mission counters Elon Musk’s misinformation about the current ISS mission. Musk lashes out and calls him “fully retarded” and an “idiot.”

Wow, finally happened: The average wholesale price for a dozen large white eggs has now broken $8, per USDA.

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

Members of Congress swear an oath to defend the Constitution. If they are too scared to follow through on that—not unreasonable, many really are getting harassment and death threats—then they should step down so someone who is up for the job can do it. Of 220m US adults, only 535 are in Congress.

BREAKING: The US Internal Revenue Service will lay off about 6,700 employees on Thursday, in a restructuring that could strain the tax-collecting agency's resources during the critical tax-filing season, a person familiar with the matter said reut.rs/4gI5Ss4

Just bought eggs for the first time in 3 weeks and holy crap. $2 a carton more expensive than last time.

"They're putting persecuted Christian refugees in camps in the jungle" sounds like something Glenn Beck would accuse the Obama administration of doing and yet now it's a pillar of the Republican agenda.

Eight children. Eight children are sitting in detention camp in Panama. Eight kids that did nothing wrong but exist

The Regime appears to be failing to comply with a court order to unfreeze federal funding.

Every Democrat should be telling this story.

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

Baldwin: "Last night, the president said 'I'm not touching Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, VA, I'm not touching them.' By this morning, he endorsed the House budget resolution which paves the way for massive cuts to Medicaid."
