I have more elaborate observations to make about ChatGPT, but, in addition to all its potentially deleterious social effects, I'll say it is just not well-designed. There clearly weren't many talented linguists involved. No corpus control & the model weights statistical frequency over all else.

Ahahaa. Elon is pissed at the Nazi compare. So fine … Nazi adjacent.

I’m still baffled at how America took one of the basic principles of the presidency — the occupant shouldn’t be able to benefit financially from the office — and just said, nah, that just doesn’t count for this one guy.

Over on Xitter I called on Bondi to investigate Rubio for defending Neo-Nazis. This is a violation of Trump's EOs prohibiting the use of govt $$ to fund antisemitism.

“Terry. Terry. I am the Pope. Did you see the picture? The hat? The beautiful white hat? The tremendous cross? Get him the picture.”

Ummmmm

Federal transportation safety officials were investigating on Friday after two commercial flights aborted landings because an Army helicopter had entered the airspace around Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, where helicopter traffic has been restricted since a fatal collision in January.

This is the official White House account.

I got mad.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

There has been a significant reduction in the number of kids getting the flu vaccine over the past 5 years—a drop from 64% to 49%. Consequently, there have been 216 pediatric flu deaths so far this flu season, the highest number since the swine flu 15 years ago (link below). Vaccinate.

🚨BREAKING: Third Circuit Court of Appeals DENIES Pennsylvania’s motion that would allow counties to reject undated and wrongly dated mail-in ballots in the state's May primary elections. A victory for our clients and the voters of Pennsylvania www.democracydocket.com/cases/pennsy...

Why is RFK Jr. spending millions of dollars asking the CDC to research measles treatments if he’s not planning for a lot more people to contract measles?

I feel as if making Stephen Miller the National Security Advisor could result in us all dying in a really innovative and non-cliched way. Like not a Tom Clancy disaster but like some kind of John Kennedy Toole way where our demise is the manifestation of incel inadequacy

There’s no point correcting this. There’s no reason to expect this travesty of a human to be any less ignorant on history than he is on every other fathomable topic. So as a 20th Century military historian I’ll just say that those Americans who serve in both wars would be ashamed of this.

In between the stories of horrific human rights abuses and trade war insanity I remember that they have also destroyed all our research and data infrastructure and effectively ended any environmental, health, or labor regulation.

NPR did a 30-minute interview with Steve Bannon in his podcast studio that aired just yesterday. PBS had on Chris Rufo tonight. Cozying up to these fucks won’t save you.

ALERT: I had not seen this article until this morning. It is a pretty big deal. Mike Waltz isn’t actually using Signal. He’s using a copy or third party version of Signal created by a company called TeleMessage the point of which is to allow archiving of messages. The app claims to preserve …

Which federal crime did the President commit with this statement? Was it 26 usc 7217, which prohibits the President or his aides from directing any tax enforcement action? Or was it 26 usc 6103, which prohibits any government official from disclosing an ongoing tax proceeding? Maybe both!

When a judge tells you, "No, you *can't* kidnap people and traffic them out of the country because you have photoshopped 'evidence.'"

Trump's post is a federal crime. 26 USC § 7217.

Always funny to me that Yarvin is held up as the great intellect of the New Right and then when he argues for stuff it's this - here's some etymology for a synonym of a word you're using, so we gotta have a tyrant -- checkmate libs. Behold the philosopher.

Texas Republicans are back with the creepy “Furries Act”—a total waste of tax dollars and legislative time over a fake litter box conspiracy. If this were real, kids would be flooding social media with videos. They’re not. Because it’s nonsense.

You cannot appease conservatives by being scrupulously fair and open-minded. They will still try to destroy you because Republicans hate reality-based media.

A section titled what?? In a chapter titled WHAT????

I think I’m going to have to give up on people understanding that “widespread, regular famine” is in fact a bigger problem than additives in food that help us feed people.

ok so for my sins i found the book and read the chapter, and it features a specious anecdote about louis pasteur confessing on his deathbed that germ theory was wrong all along. it's sourced from a book called "virus mania."

Funny how only vaccines need RCTs.

Honestly this is just incredible content.

there is something darkly funny in watching people just now discover the extent to which RFK Jr. is a complete lunatic not funny per se but funny in the sense of "you have to laugh so you don't cry"

this is legitimately evil

RFK Jr. is now ordering the CDC to fund studies of measles treatments using unproven “vitamins and drugs”. This is unethical, irrational, and disgraceful when we already have something that prevents measles safely and effectively. It is the MMR vaccine.

The COVID vaccines have been taken by billions of people, saved millions of lives, and are some of the most rigorously tested medical products in history. Someone who has zero experience in vaccine development should not be influencing the approval process. This will kill people.

We did this video NINE DAYS AGO. www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1v1...

‘Kennedy told reporters that there were "many, many good ways to treat measles and doctors need to know that and to know those methods.’ One problem; there is no treatment for measles. Signed, a doctor who’s been forced to deal with measles because of this stupid fraud.

New in PN: @therickwilson.bsky.social on Marco Rubio's great debasement "He’s not only betrayed every value he ever claimed to have, but he’s profoundly — at a level I can barely articulate — harming the country. It’s an astounding comedown for a guy who was once thought of as someone of principle"

I just think it’s funny that the president thinks making everything more expensive will be no big deal in a nation that exists because its ancestors overthrew their government rather than pay an extra tax on tea

Bad enough for anyone to claim the only point of impeachment is winning future elections—it’s the Constitutional response to abuse of power—but worse to say impeachment failed because Trump got reelected. He lost in 2020, after the deserved impeachment the same Dems said would hand him reelection.

James Comer’s tenure as head of House Oversight has been an embarrassment. But what will earn him a place in the history books isn’t his contrived effort to smear Biden but his utter disinterest in investigating Trump. Gift link: wapo.st/3GBQDEU

Sen. Ossoff: Who out there in the American public is sitting at home demanding that we shut down cancer research and Alzheimer's research?

Raskin: The lowest 100 day approval rating since polling began. He controlled the agenda. He controlled the House, the Senate— he’s got everything going for him and his numbers are in the gutter

Is that stupid person in the room with us right now?

Greg Abbott and his minions are spreading conspiracy theories to help defund public schools

Heads Up if your vaccines seem a bit chunky...

We’re cooked

Not to be a Wednesday morning quarterback, but if the president is saying something not just false but stupid, it's probably a good idea to keep asking questions. (Do you know what Photoshop is? Who told you this guy had MS-13 tattooed on his knuckles? Who gave you the blown-up picture?)

"That's a refreshing question," the White House Press Secretary says to a far-right conspiracy theorist who posted child sex abuse material and Hitler's speeches on Twitter.

They’ve already deported someone to Rwanda! I reported on a State Dept. cable confirming it a week ago! I even shared the cable details so others could confirm!!!! I feel insane www.thehandbasket.co/p/us-rwanda-...
