I'm in the US so had to go ebay. Mine is a Euro model (has the pound sign instead of the $ lol) but it came with the US powersupply, which is the main thing. r/amiga was very helpful with getting info for a setup. There are definitely several pieces of gear you need to get up and running.

Yeah, I have one of the beta units and made a bunch of music on it 2020-2022 or so. It's a cool device for sure.

For real! Like just the sound of it reading the floppy disk is nostalgic haha.

Sorta! I'm recreating an older song to learn the Amiga, cause composing something new and learning at the same time is rough. So it's a demake on more limited hardware. I'm liking this chippy Amiga version, but the original is still a nice tune I think. roboctopus.bandcamp.com/track/2-am-i...

Wtf. Mr beast spam trash on bluesky?

Thanks! Definitely budget lol I've had the Tascam for about 18 years and decided last year to give it a home on my desk instead of in a closet. It's fun to mess with and makes a pretty good mixer!

Oh gosh, not for a bit. I am working on an album--all the tunes I've been posting lately are for the same project. I have 4 tracks mostly done, and this one I just started yesterday. Might be a 5-6 track EP type thing. May do a run of tapes for it or something. But hopefully not too long!

I'm working on an EP all done in this style. Four songs mostly done. I need a more minor key track though lol. And I might make them all 2xLSDJ haha. Soooo idk?

I'mma release them when I'm done, so #soon haha. Still tweaking levels and EQ and compression. I'm also making them at different BPS, so you can play them as a 1-bar "loop" at different speeds and have them sound correct. Also, I need to do a funky drummer kit XD

It's great! Also, nice meeting you guys at Boston Bitdown!

Shhhh. Snorlax is sleeping. :P Tho for real, I got it from a capsule machine so I can't point you to where to buy it.

It is all running on the gameboy!
comment in response to post
That actually does sound pretty spring like!
comment in response to post
Yep! All sounds coming from the Gameboy. 😆

It sort of sounds shockingly good for 4-bit samples playing on the Gameboy haha.

Whoa, that has some special vibe sauce! And yeah, slowing the tape down hits different than on a DAW!

The vocals were a pain to make, mostly because I sang it and then used a combination of AI, pitch shifting, and hand tweaking to make them sound like that. But then they just need some hefty compression and a big volume boost.

The drums had more processing than the vocals. For drums I compress the heck out of them and EQ them more heavily that I would for non-gameboy purposes. Then boost the volume a lot more than you might think. Like, get them clipping.

This is like suuuuper WIP stage, so this snippet is all there is for now. I'm pretty into it though, so I will hopefully finish it quicker than it usually takes me haha.

It was indeed tasty! I've had Ichiran in Tokyo and I think the NYC branch holds up! It's like three times the price of Tokyo tho XD

Thanks! Looking forward to your set for sure!

The Octa is sooo versatile, so I'm using it in a bunch of ways--as a DJ mixer and FX unit. I'm also using a Arduinoboy to sync the OT to one of the DMGs for beat-synced freeze delay. Also syncing OT and LSDJ for breakbeats. At least one song relies completely on the OT for drums.
