During the 15 years, I worked as a federal prosecutor and then as United States Attorney, I am not aware of a single instance, in the thousands of 1000s of cases were charged, where a DOJ official resigned in protest.

Right - it feels like maybe @ericlipton.nytimes.com is applying the quid pro quo of specific statutes (namely bribery statutes) to the more generic class of misconduct that is corruption (of which bribery is only a subset)

2) To all you clients out there, do you really want a law firm that tuns tail and runs? She specifically cited the lawyerʻs ethical duty to zealously represent a client, and suggested uncertainty as to whether a firm that capitulated could be trusted to deliver the zealous representation.

1) Rule of law requires that when faced with this kind of lawless Presidential extortion, lawyers must stand up to it — because if you donʻt, the extortion will flourish and spread posing a significant risk to rule of law.

They and their firms are transaction costs in the market - they make money whether it goes up or goes down.
So it’s not clear to me that they care all that much, if at all, if the economy continues to tank.

Our team at LFL is ok - our 988 work is state funded and our state partners are solid.
But we are really worried about our partners at the Veterans Crisis Line. Firing people without any regard to what they do puts vets in crisis at risk…
