Governor Mills doesn’t suffer fools lightly, and it appears she has even less tolerance for bullies. (And as a former attorney general, she knows what she’s talking about.)

These are the indicative estimates of Russia’s combat losses as of Feb. 21, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Resisting comes in all forms. Here is a very creative one starting to pop up.

Crockett: "It's just that they're idiots. These are the same guys as it relates to our nuclear stockpile, they're like, 'Oh, wait a minute, we needed those guys? Can we get them back? Oh, we don't know how to.' I don't know how anyone can look at this administration & feel a semblance of confidence"

Trump said on day one, you'd see some "pretty drastic price reductions." Nope. And House GOP "wreckonciliation" economic plan does nothing to lower prices for families either, but it does pay for a $4.5 trillion tax bonus to billionaires.

Pop quiz: People are saying the kid says “you’re not the president you need to go away” — do y’all hear it too?

MIKE LUCKOVICH APPRECIATION POST @mluckovich.bsky.social is one of the greatest political cartoonists of all time. Thank you for 3 decades of scathing satire, remarkable insight and helping us all laugh to avoid weeping openly. 🙏 Your longtime fan, Mar🐫

district judges have a lot of discretion in how they handle this sort of apparent misconduct. it's critical that Judge Kollar-Kotelly put Bradley Humphreys and whomever he received information from on the stand and question them under oath, ideally tomorrow.

This is good messaging.

A bit of context: Judge Coughenour didn't do this because he is rabidly anti-Trump or a progressive activist Judge. This is how he reacts whenever his BS detector goes off, in all kinds of cases. He's like this when he judges law school moot court competitions!

Mike Johnson Let a Terrorist Roam the Capitol Yesterday www.emptywheel.net/2025/01/23/m...

"Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel–not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God."--W.E.B. DuBois on Robert E. Lee, born #OTD in 1807 🗃️

What of wusses are MAGA? Reagan did it outdoors in 7 degree weather. I guess Trump is a feeble old man who can't take the cold. www.cnn.com/2025/01/17/p...

Jack Smith has quietly resigned. Nothing left to do after turning over the report to Garland. Revealed in the footnote of a DOJ filing on Friday. He worked hard, fast, and productively for his country, and the outcome was a terrible disservice to him and his team.

Why and How to Hold John Roberts Accountable www.emptywheel.net/2025/01/08/w...

In Las Vegas, Elon Musk’s Boring Company is building its first-ever underground transportation network using driver-operated Teslas. It’s happening with minimal oversight, thanks to an unlikely partner: the tourism authority best known for selling the image that “What Happens Here, Stays Here.”

Outraged by the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, a wilderness survival trainer spent years undercover climbing the ranks of right-wing militias. He didn’t tell police or the FBI. He didn’t tell family or friends. The one person he told was ProPublica reporter @josh-kaplan.bsky.social. propub.li/3DGXECO

Jeff Bezos never wanted this cartoon to become public. He killed it, and as a result, pulitzer prize editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit. Make sure everyone sees this cartoon.

Roberts is so thoroughly in his own head he has no self-awareness of what his court has done over the past several years to rip its legitimacy to shreds. Just one of the following was sufficient to do so: 1) Dobbs 2) Gutting VRA 3) Immunity for Trump 4) Delaying Trump's cases 5) Being so corrupt

This is why Trump's alliance with Musk (for example) creates a real opportunity. 1) He's the fucking richest man in the world, trying to take granny's retirement so he can get a big tax cut. 2) He's not Trump.

CNN is hopelessly broken. 1. This "expansion" would require military invasions of several allies in violation of international law. 2. It would violate several treaties. 3. The Louisiana Purchase was the sale of land by a colonial power (France). These are sovereign nations.

Here's the Tl;dr of the Ethics Report. ethics.house.gov/wp-content/u...

Congratulations to Mike Johnson for trying to pressure the House Ethics Committee into burying a report that found the then-nominee for attorney general had engaged in sexual activity with a minor. Party of Family Values, am I right?

If "President Musk" catches on I give him until about April before Trump cans him.

I spend a GREAT DEAL of time watching Oversight hearings. AOC does not come off as a firebrand there. She comes off as someone who manages the committee, including Comer, well. I like Connolly. But I don't seem him exercising that kind of stature on the committee.

Bernie Sanders: "We are moving rapidly into an oligarchic form of society ... we can't go around the world saying, 'in Russia Putin has an oligarchy.' Well we got an oligarchy here too."
