At this point, a non-negotiable part of publication should be complete plasmid sequencing and posting to an open repository like GenBank. Journals/sequencing services should come up with some process to support scientists from locations with reduced resources.

How about referring to the same organism by different names? Tomatoes have been Lycopersicon esculentum, Lycopersicon lycopersicum, and Solanum lycopersicum during my career (just one example).

Nice thread and it helps explain why biology is so difficult. When we teach it, we gloss over how much it is a Rube Goldberg machine. We certainly know a lot, but we are still scratching the surface on a lot of it.

I irritated my FIL when he wanted to buy computers for my kids by letting him know he would be on the hook for all the technical support if he bought Windows machines. If he got them Macs, Iād deal with it.
I have worked with both, but Iāve only purchased Macs for personal use.
