Both Gurathin and Murderbot are effectively ex-Corporation Rim entities struggling with the Preservation Alliance culture. And they are both loci for our own cultural awareness, because we, the audience, are also living in the CR while trying to imagine and achieve better.

I think (hope) we'll have more of an opportunity to see these characters dig into their own reactions and gain a more complex understanding of #Murderbot and of themselves in the later episodes of the show. I definitely am fascinated by Mensah's arc in this... but keep your eye on Gurathin!

It’s Father’s Day & my wonderful husband is fantastic!
It is also the 30th anniversary of my wonderful father’s death—I miss him horribly BUT I think he’d be immensely proud of me and my family!
So happy Father’s Day to all of us, including those who mourn

Gurathin is one of my very favourite characters in the books (especially in Fugitive Telemetry), but the show (& DD) has fleshed him out SO WELL.
(And, yes, I was braced for the show to not be great, but when I saw my first still of the crew I was like “…holy shit, that MUST be Gurathin. 😮”)

The way he crumpled when Leebeebee said Mensah was dead!
His heartfelt little whimper of “Mensah! Thank goodness!” when she burst in!
He got shot IN THE KNEE! And nearly in THE HEAD!
