Oy someone on here pushing against low interest rates because it hurts savings. Savings for whom? When interest rates are low debtors benefit. With lower interest it is easier to pay off principal. That is savings, too

I no longer have words to express the level of betrayal and outrage I feel for American Jews who weaponize our history of pain to justify Israel's atrocities.

I welcome anybody who has a bucket to put water on this fire but man I spent so much of last year telling men, specifically self-styled “classical liberal” men, to stop listening to Bret Stephens and David Brooks and start paying attention to what people who understand the internet say about Trump

I'm thinking about how tonight was probably the first time Kilmar Abrego Garcia learned that millions of people care about him - the first time he learned that the United States Supreme Court ruled 9-0 to bring him home. I'm thinking what it must mean for him to know, right now, that he isn't alone.

To all the people saying that their year-2000 selves could not have imagined David Brooks and Bill Kristol being this edgy, I'll add Matt Drudge choosing a frame that is *fire*.

The task for Democrats is incredibly hard right now, but the mandate is so simple: Behave like you understand what's at stake.

david brooks: we need a mass movement bret stephens: trump is exploiting the idea of antisemitism bill kristol: the "abolish ICE" guys were right me: (pinching myself furiously, splashing water on my face)

You know what else is up by a huge percentage? Illegal but state-sanctioned assault, battery, kidnappings, forced imprisonment, torture, and violations of due process.

We shouldn't human traffic guilty people to foreign death camps, either, actually.

Nation Can’t Believe It On Harvard’s Side

Everyone has a favorite part of this opinion but Harvie Wilkinson turning the death of Chevron into both a sword and a shield is mine . . .

JD Vance Rushes To Put Wife’s Head Back On After Fumbling Second Lady

Citing Loper Bright here is *chef's kiss*. Guess we find out soon if that only holds for D presidents?

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.

We are not sliding into or headed toward authoritarianism. "At issue is a recently passed law that a federal judge has temporarily barred the state from enforcing, further calling into question the validity of his arrest" www.rawstory.com/us-born-man-...

Good

The very fact he picked Al Sharpton suggests that Target needs a DEI program

Francisco Rodríguez gets a nice interview talking about our recent reply to Dany Bahar and Ricardo Hausmann. I'd like to add something for clarity

As a historian of eugenics, I can tell you that the "taxes" thing is straight up from sterilization eugenics. Not only that, it represents an even more extreme form of early 20thC. eugenics that I study: euthanasia eugenics. They are tax burdens therefore they shouldn't exist. 1/2

Social Security has kept its promise to pay benefits in full and on time for nearly a century. Elon Musk and Donald Trump want to break that promise. We MUST NOT let that happen.

Maybe Bondi is even higher up in MS-13. She might lead the whole thing. There's just as much evidence

The Social Security website keeps crashing so people can't access their benefits portal. Some Americans even got error messages saying they aren't getting payments at all. What's DOGE's response? Fire half of the Social Security tech team. I'm pushing back.

The possibility of abduction by a sovereign and imprisonment abroad is one criterion that separates democracies from dictatorships. The Declaration of Independence called the British king tyrannical for transporting Americans, “beyond Seas to be tried for pretended Offenses.”

"you've lost another Hegseth advisor?"

Again, every single day I discover a new reason to hate this soulless fuck.

I’m sorry is he talking about somewhere else?

A reminder that there is no human being in the United States whom it would be legal to disappear to a Salvadoran prison without due process of law.

April 16th marks 25 years since massive protests challenged IMF policies in DC. A key question lingers: Has the IMF fundamentally reformed? Evidence from CEPR suggests debt traps fueled by austerity conditions remain a major obstacle for developing nations.

In a small d-democratic political system there are these things called elections and in the United States in particular there are these sub-electoral mechanisms for choosing how you want your preferred political party to behave called primaries. It does not make much sense to be anti primary.

Uh, the same person simultaneously serving as Sec. of the Army and head of a federal police agency seems problematic. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

It is really bothering me (understatement) that the message is “bring back that one innocent guy” and not “WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK SHUT DOWN THIS WHOLE OPERATION IMMEDIATELY.”

"Critics say"? What fucking planet are we on?

Nice to see this get picked up and not get suckered by Bahar's spin

wow. (federal courts should still say the votes cannot/should not be thrown out.)
