He was one the last time around, too. Not one for changing much, that man. He was who he was--and made no bones about it. If you "failed" to see it, it is entirely on you.

We should never trust them and never forget and never let them forget what they did to us

"What we are seeing is a purge—of the administrative state, of the universities, of expertise—that is consistent with events like the Cultural Revolution in China in the 1960s and ’70s, or the dismantling of the tsarist civil service after the Bolshevik Revolution" www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Every thing you do, no matter how small, to remind people that the wannabe dictators are actually sad, scared, fallible little boys is helpful. The more we laugh at them, the less fearsome they are and the easier it is to wrest power back from them. Also? These messages are effing hilarious.

I was raised a rural southern Baptist. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. When I went to college, and took a Black history class, my world changed and I couldn’t wait to teach the history that I had learned. This is why they want to defund higher education. Why they remove true history.

It is a tale Told by an idiot

Thousands of protesters gathered in Boston for the"Hands Off!" rally. It's one of 1,200 protests unfolding in all 50 states nationwide. Estimates are at ~2.5 million total protesters today.

Just as forced birth is becoming the norm in many states across the country. With the developed worlds highest maternal mortality rates, what could go wrong? 🫠

It is simply astounding how, in just over two months, the US has almost caught up with two decades of democratic backsliding in Turkey.

'Daisy' comes from the Old English for 'day's eye' as the flowers open during the day and shut again at night.

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

lan Fleming's original James Bond novels haven't aged well. For example, Moonraker - published almost exactly 70 years ago in April 1955 - features a villain who's a super-rich industrialist and rocket-maker seeking to cause chaos because he's a secret Nazi. Such a silly idea!

Millions of Americans are now in the position to find out what they would have done “if they had been alive back then.”

“One young man sobbed when a guard pushed him to the floor. He said, ‘I’m not a gang member. I’m gay. I’m a barber.’ I believed him. *** He “began to whimper,” as his head was roughly shaved, “folding his hands in prayer as his hair fell.” He “asked for his mother & cried as he was slapped again.”

New from me at @motherjones.com: Attacks on Social Security disproportionately harm retirees of color, as SS is more likely to be their own source of income (vs. IRA, pension etc). www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Wow, an extremely rare and incredibly well-preserved tapestry-woven, fringed linen cloth from 3,400 years ago! Lovely lotus flower and bud design in the border of this ancient fabric! Dimensions 85 cm x 58 cm. From the Theban tomb of Kha (TT8) at Deir el-Medina, Egypt. 📷 by me #Archaeology

Emails sent out late last night—The Department of Health and Human Services is offering employees up to $25,000 to voluntarily leave the agency.

DOGE cut off payments for the electricity, cell phone, and internet service of U.S. government employees who work in a high-risk area in Central America. Meanwhile, DOGE apparently plans to spend $25,000 to install a washer and dryer for their own personal use in a federal office building in DC.

Good morning. It's now 12:01 AM. The largest US tariff hike in a century has officially gone into effect—25% on Mexican imports, 25% on Canadian imports (except energy at 10%), & now 20% on Chinese imports. Canadian retaliation on $21B in US exports has also just gone into effect
