ACIP is a little niche (though perhaps less niche than pre-pandemic!) but this should be very concerning to parents and parents-to-be. The childhood mortality rate has _crashed_ because of vaccines. Kids today live amazingly longer and more healthy lives by not dying of vaccine-preventable illness.

I had natives planted in wide swaths of my yard last fall. First iris bloomed today. Irises are my favorite! 🌱

This really isn’t a hard message. Obama neutralized the Iran nuclear program through the hard work of diplomacy, but Trump tore up the deal in his first term out of spite and chose war instead.

First monarch eggs of the season! I will leave most of them outside (where the majority will become someone else’s food), but it is so satisfying to shepherd some of them to adulthood. 🌱 🦋

10 years of obsession about what Trump supporters think & care about has warped our understanding of their size & popularity: Trump is historically unpopular, pro-democracy supporters far outnumber the object of Corporate Media’s love. Time to hear more from majority of US.

Stephen Miller is privately raging over deportation numbers he deems too low. So he's shifting huge amounts of law enforcement resources away from fighting serious crimes and into his immigration crackdown. If voters knew about this, they'd recoil. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/1961...

"Imagine the auto industry without 3D printing. NSF funded that. Artificial intelligence? NSF. MRI machines that help doctors diagnose you? NSF. Doppler radar technology that makes aviation safer by conquering wind shear? NSF. Duolingo‘s underlying programming? NSF. The internet itself? NSF."

Tip: add -ai to your search and you won’t get that stupid AI summary.

re #5, I would say if you can’t confirm that the paper says what you claim it says, don’t cite it. Doing otherwise can perpetuate errors through generations of papers.

Your School House Rock moment.....🤔

I just ordered a set! Where do you think are the most effective places to post these?

A wonderful personal story on the benefits scientific research can have down the road (even if they can’t be predicted at the time) and why we shouldn’t be destroying the scientific enterprise.

Cannot emphasize this too strongly.

“However bad everyone on the outside thinks it is, it is a million times worse. They’re dismantling and destroying everything.” Read, share, respond. Call your representatives. The health and well-being of Americans & America's innovation economy are at stake. www.science.org/content/arti...

This is a new image from #JWST. The bright points with spikes are stars in the Milky Way. Everything else is a galaxy. Everything. Else. Is. A. Galaxy.

Congratulate people for being one of today’s lucky 10,000! xkcd.com/1053/

This “battle against antisemitism” isn’t doing anyone any favors, least of all Jews. Glad to see Jewish communities speaking out against the pretense and the actions. #notinourname

“You can’t stop a regime by asking the king to sit down. You dismantle the throne he’s standing on — one coward at a time.” From a list of specific actions Dems can take. @amyklobuchar.com @smith.senate.gov

Dear senators who think you can’t do anything, Today, Senator Van Hollen - through diplomatic pressure - got a meeting with Abrego Garcia in El Salvador. So that thing you’re thinking about doing? DO IT. ~ All of Us

And what a waste of time and money—in addition, of course, to the lost knowledge. Nothing “efficient” about it.

Never again means never again for anyone #notinourname

Does anyone know what “Ali plugs” are called in the US? They are used for hanging insulation (bubble wrap) in a greenhouse. 🌱
