I listened to it again recently via Audible. Great book. That list gets circulated every few years. Very pertinent now. Eco knew the score after seeing Italian fascism up close. It spread through the region he grew up in and had a profound effect on him.

Yup!

It’s very faithful, surprisingly so (I had to bizarrely teach the novel for A Level Lit) and is a great example of of page to screen adaptation.

Whenever someone talks about ‘the lack of diversity of thought’, they’re talking about far right scumbags.

Just watched the pub part - think it’s called The Ellangowan - lovely presenters, but sad to see what’s happened to it. They had a lot of Wicker Man memorabilia on the walls which the guy spotted bits of. Thanks again, mate. Will check out their channel.

Awww, I stayed there over 25 years ago on a Wicker Man locations tour with my two fellow friends/obsessives. Lovely landlord and bar. Sad to hear. Thanks for posting it!

Oh man. They’re messed up individuals aren’t they? Glad you dealt with him. These people haunt your school life.

have. Anyway, was a typical bully, tries to look for vulnerable people and shocked when they’re not. Funnily enough it was his henchman, Desmond, who I was more worried about. He could fight.

Heard awful stories. I punched out a bully at school once (he wanted a fight with me) and it shocked him as he thought I was just a book reader. Dad taught me to box. Never went near me again. Funnily enough became a Christian missionary and tried to contact me. I couldn’t do it. Maybe I should

Haha not sure they’ll ever be able to do that for some arcane reason but fingers crossed for you!
