sentimentality aside its the right move. Guy has 7 5v5 points this year, NYR have enough intangible guys. If traded now, he's easily had either the 1st or 2nd NYR career of any forward drafted by NYR. (Vickers is the other)

I think they are a lot more ageist with their forwards rather than xenophobic.

Drury deserves blame but Laviolette force feeding 55 in the lineup before he was ready and breaking up 23-79 when they had a 84gf% to get 55 going (still averaging 20 min a game!) and breaking up 50-72-24 when they had a 100gf% to try and get 93 going is what cratered the season.

Maybe not bad, but Fox's numbers were always better w/out 55 and 55's were way worse w/out 23. 55 played 10 minutes in the 3rd last night :(

this is quite the indictment of how poorly 93/20 have played this year outside of their excellent pk.

why do NYR veteran coaches lose their mind in year 2? AV, GG now PL. My half baked theory is Laviolette was a good soldier carrying out Drury's vision in year 1, now using a successful 1st year, some locker room distrust in Drury (21 traded, 8 almost) is flexing a bit with these insane pairings.

year 2, veteran NYR coach after a successful 1st year syndrome. AV and GG are smiling and nodding
