It was the 80s so it definitely could've been worse than soap. But all it taught me was to be more careful ~around my parents~. Still swear like a trucker to this day.

Polling from @davidvalentin on this topic is worth considering here too:
David found the public is split on Bill 5, but not on Indigenous consultation, which a majority said was more important than speeding up projects. #onpoli

First time I got in trouble for it, I was 7. I'd been swearing like a trucker at recess for a while by then and accidentally let something slip at home. Don't remember what I said, but I got my mouth washed out with soap. 🙃

First time I swore I was 2. Someone at daycare apparently taught me how to say "fuck you mommy". I didn't get in trouble because I was in my car seat in the backseat while my mom was driving on the 401 through Toronto in rush hour and she had other priorities.

I work for a global company with employees in 5 countries and 6 timezones, but somehow only the employees based within driving distance of our Waterloo, Ontario office are unable work productively remotely and must go to the office... 🙄

There's still a lot of business travel happening. The company I work for sent 30 people to Atlanta 2 weeks ago for a customer event.
Many weren't comfortable going. But for most of them, their commissions depend on upsells/renewals with customers, so they need that face time with them.

Hah. When I saw "Southwestern Ontario" I wondered if it was Aylmer. Buncha evangelical anti-vax nut jobs there.

I love how the media is just ignoring this, too.
I mean, there's a lot going on, but we should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time here.

The email reminders are increasing in frequency, which adds to my overflowing inbox situation, which contributes to my complete information overload that prevents me from actually dealing with any one of those.

But we still never figured out what would have happened if he'd been evicted. Would he be forced to sell? Could he keep it and rent it out? Would that become a sublet situation with the landlord then, and could they deny him the sublet? All questions that aren't clearly defined in Ontario's RTA.

In Ontario they can. My ex-bf's landlord tried to evict him for standing up to the maintenance guy who was bullying residents, but they backed down when we lawyered up.
The other residents just took the maintenance guy's crap because they couldn't afford legal help.

I dated a guy who lived in a land lease community and those places are so fucked up. You own your home but your landlord can still evict you. So of course, you comply with whatever bullshit your landlord does-even if it's illegal-because everyone is terrified of what would happen if they got evicted

There is no point in trying to prove targeted people's worthiness to the fascists. It doesn't "prove them wrong" when we're well behaved or model citizens. It is a losing game where the rules change constantly. The only way to win is to oppose the setting of those parameters at every level of power.
