The Trump administration is a rat king in progress.

I think that is the root of the whole problem we are dealing with now. It is that corporate slavery that they now want to replace our government with.

I hate Trump and wouldn't vote for him if he was the last candidate on Earth. Everything the Islamist activists said and did post 10/7 was straight out of the Hamas playbook. There was no talk of peace, love and understanding. It was a completely one-sided take that held Hamas blameless.

1st Amendment doesn't extend to incitement of violence. Hamas is a genocidal regime with specific slogans and talking points. Slogans and talking points parroted on US campuses in the days and months after the 10/7 massacre.

Why did any of you vote at all? The Rs would not have voted for such nominees if the shoe was on the other foot. Just as they did not vote on Obama's SCOTUS nominee.

What he doesn't seem to understand is that the risk of taking the vax is far less than the risk of not taking it. The father of the girl that died in Texas said that he didn't allow her to have the vax because the risk of taking it was not zero, but he didn't factor in the risk of not taking it.

At 75 million votes, Harris had the 3rd largest turnout in American history in spite of having only months to campaign. The 'pro-Palestinian' movement following 10/7 at no point acknowledged 10/7 or the right of Israelis to live. They never called on Hamas to cease fire. That seems anti-semitic.

The ending resonated with me because I think the Catholic Church in real life is at a critical cross-roads now that the humble Franciscan Pope Francis is on his last legs. I fear we'll have a reactionary Pope soon who will back right wing regimes all over the world as the RCC has done in the past.

I thought Anora was a pretty great movie with a lot of depth and feeling and I was not expecting to like it at all. I thought it had a lot to say about America at this particular moment, and its obsession with transactional relationships. Also, wonderful glimpse into NYC Russian immigrant community.

How is it possible for undocumented workers to be paying taxes? Do they have social security numbers? Do they use other people's? I've always found that argument very suspect, because in addition to not having tax IDs, the adjusted income of minimum wage workers is below the tax threshold.

It's powerful. I've been reading his biography Room to Dream, and in it he talks about fear and dread and how it could overtake both in an urban and in a country setting. I don't know if that is what he is expressing here or not.
