We're looking for people who've had to transliterate their names from another alphabet into the Latin one -- or who've even changed their name to one easier for English speakers to pronounce -- upon moving to Dublin. Want to talk, for an article, about the change: how you decided, how it feels?

What now, Tesco?

No I don't think anyone is left wondering where the US stands on Russia/Ukraine.

Amid plans for food-delivery drones to spread across Dublin, some worry about safety. The company Manna has done about 200,000 food-deliveries by drone since 2021, a spokesperson said. Only three accidents have been officially reported. dublininquirer.com/2...

A Kurdish woman asked to be buried “in a handful of soil” in Ireland – but her body was sent to Turkey anyway. In a note she left behind, she’d written, “Do not give my corpse to the oppressors.” dublininquirer.com/2...

Far too often in Ireland, the threat of the cost of defending a lawsuit – even one we'd be sure to win – is used to bully journalists. Doesn't matter if it's the truth, or in the public interest if we don't have hundreds of thousands of euro to defend our case. Publish and be sued out of existence.

Trump declaring this the new Golden Age of America reminds me of the former leader of totalitarian Turkmenistan calling his era the Golden Age, when I was living there, 2004-2006. Clichéd dictator move, very derivative. Also, reader: it was not a golden age.

I have twice this week seen people use "infamous" when they clearly meant "famous". Is "infamous" the new "inflammable"?

I guess this is one solution to traffic congestion. Seems a bit radical to me though.

“And you know what? At least he is doing something. It may kill a lot of people. It may leave others without homes or jobs. But I respect a man of action, regardless of what that action is and whether or not it’s going to make things better or worse.” @mikedrucker.bsky.social

I just cannot get over the fact that tens of millions of Americans voted for this: the cruelty, the corruption, the incompetence, shitting on everyone to make these billionaires running the country richer. They voted to be shat on.

A small favour from any journalists that are out there, pls If you're door-stepping Patrick O'Donovan about the arts council overspend on the IT system, can you ask him how the procurement could have been improved (as he was the junior minister for procurement when the tender was released)?

This is so good. Please someone write an updated version set in Ireland, or in the US even. I'd love to read it.

Kid made himself a watermelon and bacon sandwich for dinner just now and I tried one too and it was honestly delicious.

Public libraries are amazing! Did you know you can borrow a book from any library in the country and return it to any other library? Did you know they have subscriptions to huge amounts of national and international media that you can access?

This is alarming.

Just started reading 'How to Hide An Empire: A History of the Greater United States' & already feel like I'm learning something new on every page.
