Didn't know this about Mel's Drive in. Not sure if you can read this "In the Fall of 1963, a group of young people calling themselves the Ad Hoc Committee To End Discrimination first picketed and then organized a sit-in at all three of the Mels-drive ins in San Francisco" ...

Another thought I had is that I get the impression a disproportionate number of people in the US on the left are sort of the first generation in their position. Usually raised conservative or centrist and discover other ideas later on. In many ways that's a good thing

It's weird to me that the American left has decided boycotts cannot work. Boycotts have historically been effective, and from what I hear people outside the US have been boycotting with widespread and largely grassroots enthusiasm and no real organizing needed.

Are there any countries that don't have a 7 day week? It's actually kind of weird that that's universal now

The only one all this tariff uncertainty has been good for is Healthy Spirits (going to go check on their Canadian beer situation, like I did exactly a month ago) (don't know if there's anything else I should get)

Wildly impractical but imagine trains with sails
