Absolutely. Coupled with the twisted, ugly fruit of a reality show pretending that a bad businessman is a genius.

I haven't laughed this hard in days.

I once had my children convinced that the Broccoli family of producers had invented the vegetable.

My books also benefited from her expertise. I love Scott Lynch's testimonial about novelists running around sticking forks into electrical sockets until Deanna stops us.

They could build houses for Habitat for Humanity . . .

I'm sold. Also, we should stock the shadow cabinet with a) experts, and b) people of integrity. This way the contrast with Trump's gang of clowns will burn brighter.

It is really terrific. The character of the female captain is like nothing I've ever read.

And it was beyond stupid--indeed criminal--for the GOP Senators to put RFK Jr. in charge.

He also knows how to write. "It was never going to be me" should be the motto of the new-Resistance.

Every time I see that little boy I think that if a mother had dragged her child around to adult/professional spaces, she would be lambasted for a) not being professional enough and b) not being a good enough mother.

Agreed. No more excuses about how long it has taken for you to build a community there. Staying there is a moral failing.

YES! This should be mentioned in every comment about this scandal.

Let's talk about efficiency a second. Apparently, everyone in the Bureau of Land Management who works on "BIODIVERSITY" got fired, because these clowns don't know the difference between biodiversity and racial/ethnic diversity.

everyone everywhere can just use 5calls.org to reach their MoC, Senators, or Governors.

Trump and his minions need more education rather than less. I've learned that scientists with the Bureau of Land Management were recently fired because they work on "biodiversity." Trump's minions used a computer program to search and find "diversity"--not knowing the difference.

Mike, Why is the call for national protests on Feb 5 getting so few responses? Are people scared? Hopeless? Have we not seen enough?
comment in response to post
Asha, do you know why calls for protests on Feb 5 are getting such low approval? Are people not yet convinced that this is a national emergency? What does it take?

I called. And got my husband to do so too.

I read the books as a young teen. As I recall, they were just as swash buckling.

Is it? We marched--millions strong--in the first Women's March and it didn't do a damn thing.

No, no, no. *I* love ProPublica. Well, we can both love a journal that works so hard at speaking truth to power.

Yes. This is a direct attack on scientists and researchers. Watch the NEH come next. The point is cow higher ed and the liberal intelligencia.

I often think of Huck Finn, and how he couldn't abide being civilized by the ladies of his town. There's a childish wish for complete freedom of expression, without fear of criticism, for even the most hurtful statements.

I hope so. Thanks for your support. I don't mean to keep people waiting.

I read Gulag when it came out. Masterful work of scholarship. Chilling.

I don't understand. It is not illegal to film law enforcement activities so long as you don't get in their way. Why would one need to make the filming anonymous? And how is your identity encoded on the video if you use those IDs to unlock your phone? Also, love your handle. But not that movie.
