Calling yourself a king doesn't make you a king. Being anointed by a prophet, slingshotting a mountain of a man, proclaiming your everlasting love for the king's son, fleeing the king's death sentence to spend 20 years in the mountains and deserts does.

Lol. I missed that the author of NIST 800-63 Appendix A had formally apologized for his sins

I used to joke that I was Hitler's worst nightmare (in that I'm not only Jewish, disabled, and queer, but I've procreated two disabled Jewish children, too), but being my own government's worst nightmare feels a lot less funny.

Usually when states go to court alleging federal coercion in violation of the 10th Amendment there is not a literal video of the President doing it.

here is the thing about the “argument” that democrats should have run roughshod over the law when they had the chance: it is much easier to break the law to destroy a program than break the law to create one.

There's a transmasculine version of this. If someone assigned female can become a man, it means there's nothing so special or powerful about men. Each of us has the biological truth of equality between the sexes within us, as demonstrated by the ability of some to pass from one to the other.

a new agency made of teenage neonazis and drug dealers is in charge of the entire government. the richest man in the world, who gave a nazi salute at the president's inauguration, says he is in charge. officially, he isn't. the government won't tell the courts who is in charge

Made even funnier by the clear rift in the comments between "millennials who were online way too much in 2006" and "everyone else." (Do you even have to ask which group I'm in?)

Going to be quite frank, I do not find anything about this “king” stuff to be funny in any form, don’t think there’s a place for us to just crack wise about it and pretend it’s normal, yes we are all irony-poisoned but if we don’t draw a line here then we have no line

If I'm reading the White House's fact sheet correctly -- the text of the actual EO doesn't seem to have been posted yet -- today's new executive order is momentous but not because it aggresses against the role of the courts or touches off any sort of constitutional crisis. /1

I wholeheartedly support productions of JCS that piss annoying people off by casting talented performers as Jesus instead of pissing *me* off by casting awful singers and embracing antisemitism with both arms (looking at you, 2000 TV movie and subsequent copycat productions)

hamlet = 🏡🏘️ Hamlet = 🎭💀

We dont know whether Hamas is telling the truth when they say Kfir Bibas was killed by an Israeli airstrike. But even if that's true, his death is on their hands. Kfir should never have been taken captive. And it is Hamas's responsibility to keep their captives safe (yes, even from Israeli strikes)

Coincidentally read this part of Terry Pratchett's "Guards! Guards!" over lunch. (My first Pratchett book.) Here, the soon-to-be-former heads of the city are realizing there's a new monster in charge, each wishing one of the others would stand in protest. I heard Pratchett was incisive, but dang. 👀

I remember seeing hundreds of people cite the video of their capture as proof that Hamas hadn't committed atrocities, because one of the fighters who took them captive spoke to them gently. Baruch dayan emet.

Mayor: You finish that statue of Lincoln for the federal courthouse? Sculptor: Sure did boss, real fuckin sexy just like you asked. Mayor: what

Berlin, 82 years ago Milwaukeean Mildred Fish Harnack dies by guillotine. She was the only American ever killed on Hitler’s direct orders. An historian & member of the German resistance, Harnack’s leadership in Nazi resistance circles ultimately led to Hitler’s defeat.

Need a Sex and the City adaptation where "The City" is Milwaukee

Does Vice President Vance really think that supporting far-right parties in Europe is appropriate after visiting a concentration camp? Where are the Jewish voices calling on him to stop this hypocrisy?

This is not a good combination of trending topics 😬

By the way the significance of styling it pretentiously as a NOLLE PROSEQUI — instead of just a generic Rule 48 motion — is that they are implying, without having the cobbles to say, that actually the judge doesn’t have any say in it.

350 Rabbis took out a full page ad in the NYTimes today opposing Trump’s plan for Palestine and calling it ethnic cleansing.

Every web page ordered restored by the court that features anything related to gender now contains this notice.

LGB folx know there is no Stonewall without TQ+. Trans women of color led the fight.

Roses are red, violets are blue

Literal LOL

Scotten was a Kavanaugh (DC Cir) and Roberts clerk ...

So someone asked me to retell the story of the old lady that told me about killing her husband. Are we ready for a trip back in time to 1999? Some of you already know this story, but if you don't it is a wild ride. Apply all appropriate trigger warnings!

The maps were alterable. The maps never had been altered. That gulf was the Gulf of America. That gulf had always been the Gulf of America.

I love my local school district but if they wake me up at 6 am tomorrow with a school closure announcement they could have made tonight I will lose it

***EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER***

i guess this is my main beef with the "no true christian" argument: it's a defense of christianity and jesus, not of the people who are being targeted by christian theocracy

9/11 was Tuesday of my first high school homecoming week. I'm just about the cutoff for this--people even a couple years younger than me that I've talked to don't have the same memory of shit going abruptly, intensely weird.
