I miss when we all enjoyed the comeuppance of a Nazi’s face melting when exposed to the Ark. It is weird that this would not be a universal response today.

Running for office ain’t for everyone. You might feel a way about putting efforts into what appears to be a broken system, or maybe a very uphill battle where you live. But a well-run campaign is a vehicle for messaging, organizing, mobilizing. And you can have more impact locally. BOTTOM 👏🏽 UP 👏🏽!

Keep this letter from @meghscase.bsky.social in your back pocket as the mayoral election gears start grinding: Mayor Jacob Frey is the one who bears responsibility for public safety in Minneapolis

If you’re a family member interested in #genealogy make sure your family knows! Share things with them. Then when they find something that’s an absolute treasure, they’ll get ahold of you. My cousin just found my grandfather’s original citizenship certificate and birth certificate.

Minnesota, it's Girl Scout Cookie Time!!! Drop your scouts' links to order cookies in the replies! Please tell us a little about their troop 😎 #TwinCitiesGeeks 💜🤍💙🏳️‍🌈🍪

Sometimes I feel kinda guilty that the worst political fights in my family are whether the institutions will remedy this (but we will go through pain before it gets fixed) or whether you have to raise hell about it because it’s not going to get fixed by itself.

“Unfortunately, the already-approved funding has not been reliably available to us to access since early February,” an MPCA spokesperson said. minnesotareformer.com/2025/02/21/t...

Because this is a good synthesis of a sentiment I keep hearing, I’m going to use it as a jumping off point: Former US presidents will not be opposition leaders unless they’re fascist (ie: Trump). Trump’s behavior eroded the peaceful transfer of power and incited Jan 6. Democrats don’t want that.

My poor child has both strep and RSV. Good times (everything is fine, just sick of sickness!).

Looks like @nytimes.com has stealth-edited this to add Evans' affiliation with Young Republicans. No correction or update note. I don't think I've ever worked with a single editor who would let me get away with that but it seems to happen regularly over there.

I just remembered that the show Ally McBeal had an all gender bathroom and that the entire modern day Republican Party (plus a few others) would lose their minds over it now.

This was a good conversation and I didn’t know how hard online gambling was pushing. It is a terrible idea, but also I grew up in the most puritanical Minnesota where we didn’t even allow the lottery until I was about 10 (or so?). I am really not a fan of gambling.

I think this German satirist did a good job of pulling on a few different threads connected to things happening right now (in the context of Germany, but also with clear ties to what’s happening in America). I’m going to talk just a little bit about family history/genealogy and its role in this.

If you know people who work for government, you know how reckless and probably criminal all this is. Government doesn’t get to indiscriminately spend massive amounts of money (honestly, not even small amounts). Staff are trained on ethics, have to document everything, etc. This is such a mockery

Friends, I hope you'll join me, Senator Scott Dibble, and Representative Leigh Finke for a community forum this Sunday on how we can stand with and stand up for the LGBTQIA+ community in Minnesota. Hope to see you there.

Trump’s first month: How the administration’s actions affect Minnesota (BTW this article is free for all readers) www.startribune.com/trumps-first...

Black and white college students went to MISSISSIPPI in 1964 to register people to vote. They got shot at, bombed, beaten and killed. These pampered fucks need to take accountability and act.

The first 19:30 is a rundown of Melon’s businesses, why they all suck, and how Tesla props them all up. Starting at 19:30 is when he gets into why Tesla is vulnerable and the strategy which is: Starve Tesla of funds. Make the brand toxic, and cut off sales, service, and charging revenue.

I finally saw that Stephen Miller CNN clip and good lord what must it be like to be getting what you want and act like a melting down toddler because people are mad at you?

fantasizing about a world where an opposition congress responds to trump’s attempts to usurp legislative power by defunding the entire white house staff

If you are federal employee in MN who has been fired or otherwise affected by the current administration's machinations, Racket would be happy to hear from you at [email protected].

I had to go check if this was real because even though I know it’s bad, the absolute ghoulishness hurts really badly. It’s real. It’s a video. This is what the country did. It’s so deeply shameful. Whatever we are now is nothing I’ve ever seen in my life.

I’m really tired, you guys. Also if the doge bros are in social security disability files, they have access to medical records submitted for disabled—which is extensive. I really can’t forgive people who voted for this/didn’t vote Harris. I know I’ll have to work with them, but forgiveness…no.

The very wealthy and the various industries that cater to them make me very tired. Especially as one of them runs around pulling the wires out of government.

It’s weird how we’ve memory holed the fact that Obama entered his first term with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a majority in the House and McConnell’s response was “We’re going to make Obama a one-term president,” not “there’s little we can do”

My only conclusion here is that journalists spend too much time on X, believe bots/ops are real, and then start spouting absolute nonsense out of their own mouths. He’s not describing real people. It’s infuriating because normal Americans don’t just sit around pondering invasions for kicks.

I wrote about Elon Musk and Gavin Kliger and acknowledging the reality of what they are: Nazis.
