Yesterday, I finished another short story, started several new poems, drafted an outline for book three of my Iron and Earth series with Falstaff Books, and got some writing in my Gothic romance. Today, I got feedback from my editor that has me even more motivated to keep creating.

Two senators _each_.

Still not over the fact that Brad Lander is the serving NYC Comptroller, rather a demanding position, AND a mayoral candidate, also a demanding FT job—& he found time to go to the courts to tell folks their rights & walk them past danger & the only reason we know is because ICE assaulted him.

If “affordable housing, decent insurance, not bullying minorities, and rich people actually having to pay taxes” are called socialism for forty years now, guess what you just did?

Today started with a Pedro Pascal Vanity Fair cover and ended with a Zohran Mamdani primary win. It’s almost like empathy is making a comeback.

I TALK ABOUT THIS CONSTANTLY This bizarre expectation that people (mostly women) have unique menus every evening for their families with low repetition/freshly prepared foods is EXTREMELY MODERN. Personally, I love to keep a pot of perpetual stew. Delicious, easy, and requires almost no thought.

this is my local ice cream guy! he’s great! everyone loves him! fuck these fucking assholes! free enrique

We eat home cooked meals most nights, but 1-2 nights a week are either crock pot meals or something from the freezer we reheat (chili, spaghetti, ect), and 1-2 nights a week we're reusing things we've already cooked (chicken becomes soup, ect). And everyone in my house cooks. It's not just Mom.

I presume Stephen Fry would like the people of Venice to stop expressing their vitriol lest it harden Bezos' resolve to kill all the poors.

Brownshirt ICE rolled up to my local Home Depot today and got the F-off treatment. Shoutout to this woman because this is exactly how it’s done. No badge, face covered = F*ck all the way off. 📌 It’s on us citizens to stand up for our vulnerable brothers and sisters.

Resist. Refuse. Ridicule. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. This unnamed, off camera woman, is the hero we should all aspire to be. "Armed" with only her voice she sends the whole array of kidnappers packing.

Stunned my son when we were doing ballet stretches, and I showed him I could almost still pull a full split. I still got it. (Can still do downward dog with my heels on the ground too, which astounded him. Yoga might not make me skinny, but I'm flexible as hell.)

This is pretty stupid considering the government is offering release and possible asylum for two, maybe three undocumented *convicted* smugglers who are actually members of MS-13 in exchange for their testimony. Someone should ask Blackburn if that's okay.

As we mentioned when we attended the hearing, government witnesses almost all had something to gain… and their story that Kilmar took his family (3 kids, 2 with autism) on almost all his alleged cross-country smuggling trips — “3-4x weekly” — is preposterous The judge agreed👇🏽

Repost with Alt Text. ...bc yeah, THIS.

My daughter had her first dance recital today, and I 100% cried the second she stepped on stage, just like I do every time her brother dances. I'm so proud of my kids it hurts.

Among those who had advance word of the attack on Iran: Steve Bannon, Fox News, the governments of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain... but not the Congressional Democratic leadership, or the Gang of Eight. www.thedailybeast.com/steve-bannon...

MAGA Friday: No new wars! MAGA Saturday: Ok bombings but no regime change! MAGA Sunday: There’s really no other solution than regime change.

Bold of you to assume we are actually functional out here

BRENNAN: Why would Iran agree to any peace deal if the US has already pulled out of one that they had, as President Trump did in 2018, and now launched surprise attacks? RUBIO: The ones that shouldn't be trusted are the Iranians

Went to bed before 9, woke up before 5, made the horrible mistake of checking on the world, now existential dread is keeping me company. Good thing I have my daughter's dance recital to attend later to allow me to disassociate from the rest of the world.

I emerge from the fog of throwing a 7yo a birthday party and find we're at war with Iran thanks to the illegal attacks by our president. I will process this tomorrow. I'm going to bed now, because I just can't find the energy for this world tonight.

Literally lighting billions of dollars of public investment on fire

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

"i asked chatgpt" yeah well i went to the doctor, i went to the mountains, i looked to the children, i drank from the fountains there's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in a crooked line and the less I seek my source for some definitive closer I am to fine

Tomorrow, I'm throwing my third party of the week, and thanks to a ridiculous productive two days, my house has never looked better. I even made a home cooked meal today and finished reading a great book. I'm pretty damn proud of myself for all I've accomplished this week. And I'm exhausted. 😅

I FUKKEN CALLED IT

The work is never done, but it's important to take rest now and again. I'm talking about laundry, but it applies to other things, too.

anyone who's gonna go "it sucks but you gotta win over people first, slowly build the case for rights" for trans people should tell me, without looking it up, when they think interracial marriage reached majority approval in america

they’ve gone from “clearly uniformed” to “partially uniformed” to “in no way identifiable” in like three weeks

It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.

The more people and companies push this sort of thing, the more I opt out of modernity. I create with the whole organism that I'm made of, with mind, sensations, thoughts, moods, and a vast history of lived experience. Your little apps can't do anything like that. Into the trash with you.

So much of the “promise” of AI right now is saving time creating. Let me say it from my chest: all I want is to spend *more* time creating. I’m not making content. I’m engaging in my vocation, my calling, my literal reason for existing.

There is no reason to be concerned about the birthrate other than racism. Humanity as a whole is above replacement levels, and we could stand to reduce the population. Age cohort problems could easily be solved through liberalized immigration. This is literally the stupidest thing to care about.

My kids and I set goals for the summer. My 11yo will be leaving to make ten meals by himself: grilled cheese, spaghetti, pancakes, scrambled eggs. My daughter wants to learn multiplication. And I'll be writing and submitting the short stories by the end of the summer. What are your goals?

Trump is confusing "trade deals" with other sovereign countries with "demands for bribes" from US media companies

If you're sending troops into cities for ideological and political reasons, that makes those cities occupied regions

oh all of this! People ask me how either of my books are doing and I'm like well I can tell you how they did as of last year. I have no info about this year at all and we're in June lol It's absolutely chaos the way the industry reports as a whole. Its why writers need another job or be rich.

“No Kings Day”: A compilation

Before the cops in LA started escalating things for no reason it was funny how my main takeaway was how much people were looking out for each other in really helpful ways. I’ve never seen so many people with carts giving away free water, sunscreen, snacks, and masks to total strangers.
