is this... a pro-abortion billboard?

When I lived in NYC I liked having everything close (my nearest grocery now is a half hour walk and there aren't even sidewalks the whole way if I did want to walk). But I did miss having access to a *real* suburban style supermarket sometimes. Different lifestyles.

#MayThe4th

I had been thinking about joining a CSA for a while. I joined this week. I pick up my first box Friday.

NEW: PublicSquare, a website that lets you search for businesses in your community that explicitly want you to know they endorse Trump/MAGA values, is backfiring as people use it to boycott those businesses. www.huffpost.com/entry/public...

Movie you've watched more than six times using gifs. ("Hard mode" no Star Wars, Star Trek, or LOTR)

Happy #WorldPenguinDay

Saw the thumbnail and said, "hey, that's over by the QT!" then I listened and this is really a bop!

Made some friends this morning #birds Alt text: video of a small pile of peanuts on the railing of a deck surrounded by trees on a sunny day, a blue jay flies up and eats one one, grabs another for the road and flies away, he is quickly replaced by another that repeats the action.

Glass half full take: It's great that she was given the opportunity to explain this very clearly not just to Eisen, but probably also a lot of people watching who don't understand how this all works. Educating clueless anchors on air is a great bit that serves to educate clueless Americans too.

Trump take LEGO @mtsw.bsky.social

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act. Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes? Staffer: a DL and birth certificate. Me: The documents don’t match Staffer: Then a marriage certificate. Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too? Staffer: No Me: See the problem?

This looks amazing. I love these books, and was nervous about the adaptation, but I'm getting excited.

NEW PAPER, JUST OUT! 👀 Insects from the '70s and '80s were already collecting microplastic, decades before the term microplastic even existed. 🤯 A thread on the surprising history of this pollutant and the incredible insect larvae that helped us uncover it. 🐛 Let's dive in! 🧵👇 1/x

Biggest commitment to a 3 second joke I've ever seen

The number of American adults in the labour force with a disability since Covid

This warms my heart.

YOU GUYS.

Dudes need bowling leagues and weekly poker games again. Maybe a book club if they have the attention span to read a book.

Love this because yes, one human being is responsible for the destruction of millions of people’s retirement dreams. Just one. All articles should frame the problem that way.

Here is the top comment on this article: “You are advising responsible honest people who have worked hard, saved all their lives… to scale down their retirement dreams because a one person has decided to destroy the US economy. Why not write an article about how to get rid of the real problem?”

I have tariffed the penguins that are on Heard Island and which you were probably assuming did not export goods forgive me they were taking advantage of us so cunning and so cold

“Noah Wyle is not a doctor, but he plays one on TV with sufficient grace and gravitas that I would consent to him performing surgery on a loved one without a moment's hesitation.”

And your grandparents

Now I’m just a small town country lawyer but it feels as though rather than abandoning our most targeted and marginalized communities to win over 19 bigots, Democrats should run on “we’re going to impeach remove and imprison that demented evil criminal fuck and his pale ratty Nazi billionaire, too”

I usually don't leave the house during the week, but I had to run an errand this morning and it was a beautiful sunny morning with flowers blooming everywhere and I was reminded that it's important to enjoy beauty when you can.

Companies are already doing it. They staff to utilization rates, taking into account productivity and automation. The more they automate, the fewer people they need. No one is saying that they will let people work fewer days for the same money. Gates knows this.

i don’t think i’ve ever missed alt text *because* of this setting. alt text is easy, fun, polite, necessary, &—critically in the age of “govt openly enthusiastic about eugenics & ending accessibility initiatives”—the right thing to do, especially if you’re on bluesky to inform or drive action.

Yes. I do not want to ever 'move on' again. Every time we turn the cheek, overlook the criminality, absolve the sins, they come back worse. I want punishment. Deterrence. Retribution. Err on the side of excess, not lenity. Anything less is asking them to come back worse yet again.

This is a bummer. I watch this when I brush my teeth at night. (a day later on P+) Since November, I haven't really wanted to watch the regular late night fare, and this fills the void nicely. (Though to be clear, I've been watching since the beginning.)

Healthshares are absolute scams. John Oliver covered this on Last Week Tonight a while back. Insurance companies are terrible, but at least there's a modicum of regulation (for now).

Not to put too fine a point on it, but when the Nazis first started sending Jews and other victims to camps, they called it deportation, and the camps were technically in other countries.

100% this is a cut and it will hit the people who can least afford it the hardest. (Also the least able to speak out).

I offer a picture of a cat to comfort you in these trying times

Forgot I was wearing my @whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com t-shirt and went on camera for a work call. Luckily I got a laugh and angled the camera up before too many people joined...

Woh! Didn't see this. Knew I must have missed it on @sanho.bsky.social's feed.
