I was struck by this framing in a response to a question. It affirms my summary: we should have known then what we know now. I'd also offer this inference: Those who didn't do then what we now know they could have done then need to serve contrition.

Indeed, banning me from gender dysphoria treatment is the same as banning me from ovarian cancer treatment: it's wholly irrelevant to whether a law targeted at a group is discriminatory. What would they say to "it's okay to ban Catholicism because it's banned for everyone, not just Catholics"?

It's such a great example of how many there are still holding onto 2020 grievances related to schools opening/closing. She remains a proxy for so much and it remains really disconcerting.
