It might just be me, but I seems that the discussion surrounding this is missing the fact that rape in the UK has historically been underreported and hardly prosecuted.

Seen from the outside American democracy was always illusory. Campaign finance ensures that it is always the rich who decide. The electoral college and senate are designed to dilute most votes in most states.
