Can we make this into a trend? Each week, share 5 things you did to #resist in hopes it spreads good ideas and inspires others?

Pick your favorite science textbook (mine is a microbiology one) and send 5 lines per email until you copy the entire book 🙃

Can’t speak to NM specifically, but I’ve heard of places starting to restrict the sale of chickens because of bird flu. It’s also recommended to not bring new chickens to the same location for 100 days if you’ve had any die due to the possibility of infection

I’m a product marketer, so messaging is a big part of my job and it absolutely has its place. I don’t think a good message is going to fix that problem partly because it won’t reach the people who need to hear it but mostly because it isn’t (yet) backed by any real action by our politicians

I’m also not saying there isn’t a time and place for constructive criticism. But right now, it’s a 5-alarm fire and people need to show up in whatever way they can.

Respectfully, it’s missing the point to focus on the messaging vs what is being protested. We ended up in this situation by nitpicking messaging or wanting a “perfect” candidate. If you want to see it change, get involved and influence the messaging instead of criticizing it from home

I volunteered with them many years ago when tornadoes hit Tuscaloosa and the charity does do a lot of good immediately following disasters. Can’t speak to how they are run and I don’t give them money personally, but they mobilize and organize well in ways that do help the communities

So if you're the owner of Fox or a billionaire donor behind AIER/GBR, and you want to spread lies about viral origin to distract from Trump letting minorities and city dwellers die ("we want them infected"), then you want to muzzle scientists. That's what these attacks on NIH are.

If you’re not anxious and exhausted, you’re not paying attention. Be sure to take care of yourself and your peeps. We still have to find a way to live in this world. #resist

Can’t speak for the OP’s reason, but Target announced they were ending specific DEI programs a week or so ago, so many have stopped shopping there

Probably the Pacific, too. In fact, why not make all oceans the American Ocean, all gulfs the Gulf of America, etc.

I also recommend starting any conversation asking the question “What would it take to change your mind?” If the answer is you can’t or I don’t know, there’s no point in having the conversation and you save your mental energy for those who there’s a chance of changing their mind

I highly recommend Nedra Glover Tawwab’s books - Set Boundaries, Find Peace or Drama Free. They help you figure out what feels right for you to protect your peace. Could mean cutting ties, could mean not discussing, could mean something else entirely.

Better yet, go see their offices/aides in person. Force them to put a face to a name of their constituents that will suffer if ID research funding is t reinstated
