I have two thoughts on this:
1) they’re planning behind the scenes, waiting for the best moment (because when they do, it will all break loose)
2) they think the voters brought this on themselves and therefore it’s up to the voters to fix it

Not surprised. I’ve had similar conversations with Americans describing where Thunder Bay, ON is (which I don’t expect them to know) and still get a blank look when I say north of Duluth/Minneapolis in Minnesota. It seems they have a hard time placing where the state is.

If the worst case scenario were to happen (military invasion/occupation), do they think the CDN response would be to stay on our side of the border? I can envision guerrilla style action, especially with it being easy for cdns to blend in. Such a depressing unnecessary mess.
