I *really* love interviewing folks for the podcast. It's a skill I'm still learning, but it's such an interesting challenge. It helps when the people you're interviewing are lovely, of course, which was very much the case with Kaizen!

The reviews are in

I'm *furious* about this. Diversity in games media is dire enough as it is. Publicly scrubbing your policies will make it even harder to make talented people feel safe and protected by the outlets that hire them. This is a cowardly and cruel move. Fuck everything about this.

👻🌹 NEW EPISODE 🌹👻 In celebration of Valentine's Day (uh, or the period of time that surrounds Valentine's Day, anyway) we take a deep dive into the indie horror trends that have defined the 2020s so far. Listen wherever you get podcasts! indieventurepodcast.co.uk/podcast/epis...

Wrapped up Indiana Jones And The Great Circle this morning. A perfect game for me, I think? Everything I could have asked for from a modern, blockbuster adventure. I loved every second of it, to the point where I'm committed to finding every last note. What a thing!

🎮 New episode! 🎮 We chat about the indie games we've been playing in January, including: 🚀 Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector 🌳 Nurikabe World ⚔️ Eternal Strands 🔍 Locator & more! Listen wherever you get podcasts or via the link below! indieventurepodcast.co.uk/podcast/epis...

every UK video game in the 80s and 90s was made by a guy named like "lord wensleydale" or two guys named "the chippy twins" and was about an egg with no special abilities going on an adventure and dying immediately. it was ported to the super nintendo where everyone hated it

I assumed after passing my test that driving would become easier, but I'm finding it's the opposite. I have to scoot down a motorway this evening for a work thing and I'm stressed to bits about it. I wish I'd learned when I was 17, and had no concept of my own mortality. That really gets in the way

2025 is shaping up to be a banger already.

I've been waking up early to play an hour of Indiana Jones before work. I haven't done this since I was a kid. Just spending a lovely hour hunting down medicine bottles! I hope this never ends! What a game!!

Decided to write about my favourite games from 2024 ✨ sevenoutoften.co.uk/my-favourite...

A treat to be back behind the mic with Edders. A fun chat, this.

I finished this last night and I loved it. As a parody, it's pitch perfect. As a clicker, it's genuinely fun.

Gotta hand it to Squid Game 2 for taking pointers from the Metal Gear Solid 2 school of sequel creation (sets up a more interesting plot in the first section before rehashing the original with minor changes). Except for one crucial element, of course. MGS2 was good.

Update: We watched it, and then went to see Sonic 3 this morning. The third is really good! Inexplicably!

Happy new year, BlueSky! 🎆 2024 was a good one for me, which I'm very grateful for. I was made permanent at Greggs, my fiancé and I celebrated our 10th anniversary together in Mexico and the Indieventure podcast continued to find an audience. Here's to 2025! May you all have a great one!

Every podcast I don’t listen to is called “Achieving the Limit with Duff and Ween” and gets sold for 300 million dollars while every podcast I do listen to is called “The Movie Toilet” and begs me to buy a t shirt so they can eat food

Our Rachel's out here getting the podcast linked on the front page of the BBC 😭

10 hours into Indy and yep, that's a good video game right there. I haven't left the Vatican yet! What a thing!

HEKKI ALLMO @indieventurepod.bsky.social 🎉 1000xRESIST makes the list as [SPOILER]. This one is special to us, as early coverage from the podcast on our demo gave us a confidence boost during the final stretches of production 🥰

Our second GOTY episode is live! Proud of this one. I can't believe we're entering our third year of podcasting! I love this little thing we've created.

Christmas is ruined (my wife refuses to watch Sonic The Hedgehog 2 this evening).

❤️‍🔥 THE BEST INDIE GAMES OF 2024 ❤️‍🔥 Surprise! We're releasing our final episode of the year a few days early as a Christmas treat! Listen as we discuss our favourite indie games of 2024 in depth. Available wherever you get podcasts! Reposts appreciated! ❤️ indieventurepodcast.co.uk/podcast/epis...

@backpagepod.bsky.social In what has become an unintended Christmas tradition, today I stumbled across the final of your Newcastle namesakes and asked my sister to once again take a confusing photograph that makes her respect - and I assume, like - me less. Merry Christmas, lads.

I sing a song in this one. I regret it.

A question for any #UX folks out there: What are the best practices for conducting a usability test on a piece of software that is used to serve customers? Do you drop the usual question structure and pretend to be a customer instead, to keep it realistic? Curious what people think!

I've played 4 hours of Astro Bot this weekend and I'm proud to announce that AAA video games are good, actually.

Rare to have an episode of your own podcast that you haven't heard! I can't wait to listen to this. I mixed @mroscartk.bsky.social's audio track and heard "Jak 2" which is basically my activation phrase.

I led a workshop yesterday for some third-year HCI students at Newcastle Uni! I spoke about our UX process at Greggs, and bribed them into answering questions with doughnuts. It was fun! My slides had elderly millennial energy that made me feel 100 years old.

The internet was better when the modem screamed.

After leaving the Hell Site, I started blogging again which has been a fun little project! I'm still trying to keep social media at arm's length, so this might be the best place to follow me moving forward (other than @indieventurepod.bsky.social obviously!): sevenoutoften.co.uk

Alright, fine. I’ll use this app.

The latest @indieventurepod.bsky.social episode is great - @meevil.bsky.social's Mike the Geordie character is worth the price of admission alone.

Episode 2 of Indieventure is out now! Here’s what we’re chatting about this time: 🚃 Underground Blossom 💀 Inescapable: No Rules, No Rescue ⚙️ SteamWorld Build ⛏️ Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor 🤖 1000xResist 🦀 Another Crab’s Treasure & more! Listen wherever you get podcasts✨
