Everything sucks right now but this book gave me a tiny bit of hope. The Serviceberry, by Robin Wall Kimmerer, contains some ecological lessons, but really discusses the gift economy - a system antithetical to the cutthroat capitalism that is dominant in (and destructive to) current society.

Ideally, isn’t a government supposed to serve & protect its citizens? Why are they just letting this happen? Any representative sitting idly doing nothing is just telling us they don’t care and perhaps are even fine with this happening. They’re supposed to be the leaders.

If you are a federal worker being offered a buyout, I would advise against taking it. Of course, this is a personal decision for everyone and it’s your choice. But these offers are a rush job. The legality is questionable and this admin does not keep to its word. They aren’t firing for a reason.
