You GUYYYYSSSSSSS The military choir sang Do You Hear the People Sing from Les Mis at the governor's dinner at the white house. Thanks to @beebrookshire.bsky.social for helping me fact check tihs one. As far as I can it's only "officially" been posted on Dan Scavino's FB

THIS IS HOW YOU STAND UP: EEOC admin judge Karen Ortiz resisted an order to hand over all LGBT cases for “review” and told colleagues to resist too. She knows she’ll likely to be fired. “I can exist on cornflakes and community if it means that my soul is intact.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/u...

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns. 100% of his salary is paid by WA state. Elon fired him. Share his story.

"Immigrants didn't steal my job. The president did."

Brilliant protest. Yosemite National Park workers hung an upside-down American flag — traditionally a symbol of distress or a national threat — thousands of feet off the ground on the side of El Capitan.

Are you bored tonight? Send your five accomplishments, maybe your shopping list, or your five thoughts on Elon from the past week to OPM at [email protected].

🤩 this cover! Excited to help reveal the cover of @courtney-floyd.com's adult fantasy debut HIGHER MAGIC in which a first-gen grad student has one last chance to pass her Magic exam but discovers her students are disappearing @htpbooks.bsky.social #HigherMagic #2025Debuts #WritingCommunity #BookSky

There’s a lot of advice going around about growing your own food, moving off grid, having a bug out plan etc. These are valuable activities to prepare for climate change & fascism, but out of reach for many disabled people. Make resistance efforts accessible & help protect us wherever you can

Today, I found out that the Department of Defense banned the Well-Read Black Girl anthology by Glory Edim. I was one of its contributors. I'm really hurt right now. So if you have it in you, please buy books by Black women from independent bookstores.

Works as advertised

❤️ the worldbuilding & magic in this series by @sherwood.bsky.social. THE PRISONER OF ZENDA meets BRIGADOON! It's BLOOD SPIRITS, the second of Sherwood Smith's Dobrenica series. Kim goes back to Dobrenica to fix the mess she left behind. Which includes...vampires? bookviewcafe.com/bvc-announce...

Repost this if you agree Elon and DOGE should be SUED!

I love Mad Magazine

This is how you do it...

Queeeeeer books. Because fuck those assholes, my stories exist.

Our coalition has grown rapidly, now standing strong with over 92,000 federal employees. We are united by our oath and our commitment to hold the line. Every day, more of us are being targeted simply for speaking the truth to America.

Though the world is fast becoming a clown car with no brakes, ducks still stand one-legged in tiny corners of peace, by the swimming pool

I have no control over the asininities of those who want to rule the world, but I can take joy of small things. Like the scratchy thud of a crow on the roof outside my window as it beak-stabs an unsalted peanut to get the treat inside.

The latest book in my husband’s series is now available for purchase. Feel free to buy the earlier volumes as well…

Since I can't figure out how to share covers and buy links, here's a post on today's release of a 100% escapism, literary-vitamin-and-mineral-free book: CORONETS AND STEEL sartorias.dreamwidth.org/1108584.html

I'm proud to see my novelette "Signs of Life" on this list, alongside a lot of fantastic work. I need to catch up on 2024 short stories. By my count I read 126 student stories as well as about twenty for peer critique, so I know where my time went, at least.

I expect tomorrow’s clown car posturing buffoonery will include cutting short the customary 30 days of half-mast flag display, as well as bluster all over observance of MLK Day. Dunno which would be more sickening, ignoring it entirely or a smarmy nod to civil rights—but I won’t be there to find out

A reminder— Viable Paradise submissions are open! You can also buy an app fee gift certificate (for yourself or that writer in your life) at the cheaper current price and use it before subs close

At the Skiffy and Fanty Blog, our @pematson.bsky.social reviews DEATH OF THE AUTHOR by Nnedi Okorafor. skiffyandfanty.com/blog/death-o...

And now the conclusion: "Locke Lamora and the Bottled Serpent," Part II-- plus a cavalcade of other riches. Four dollars. Four friggin' dollars! Get thee hence!

I have rarely been so whipsawed and exhilarated by a novel as I was by LENT. One of the most remarkable works by this most consistently remarkable writer.

Jeff Bezos never wanted this cartoon to become public. He killed it, and as a result, pulitzer prize editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit. Make sure everyone sees this cartoon.

Some days I just need some lovely art, wondering what those long-ago embroiderers were thinking and chatting about.
