I feel the need to interject here that there is a regency romance novel set at an 18th-century book auction with a sexy widow lady bookseller teaching a rakish nobleman how to collect books and includes the line “the vellum wasn’t the only thing that was stiff”

But have you considered that it’s hard to write your own emails? I, who apparently cannot formulate my own thoughts into sentences on my own, am going to leave you, who sees for no use for this, behind!

Academics gain the luxury of pronouncing themselves "apolitical" when their politics align with those in power. Their pro-status quo politics can masquerade as "common sense" so effectively that they don't notice when their ideological biases seep into their work

Not exactly mainstream media, but China Mieville’s novel Perdido Street Station has a guy in a relationship with a beetle woman. There is also a Balzac short story about a guy in love with a leopard.

I don’t think I’ve personally encountered this outside the incunable era—and I give them a pass!! 😅 but it is truly absurd for a scholarly book not to have page numbers.

I have a Dr Huey that was a root stock takeover situation, which I’ve been letting live out of curiosity for a few years. I think after he blooms this year however … he is going to get retired.

My two David Austin bare roots are budding up a storm and seem happy in their new pots! So hard to wait though…

Is it “ancient” Greek? Modern Greek? Did the person who wrote this actually know Greek at all? Is this is a real text or just gibberish to disguise the porno content? Guess I will figure it out!!

Adam was the most beautiful man because he knew the most about God! Eve not mentioned lol

The beauty, which he calls splendor, of the whole world is the beauty of God shining through creation 🥹

He has to wear special little boots because he drags his back feet a bit on long walks on concrete and it hurts his toes 🥺 but he is a trooper
