As of 12:02 EST, we officially declare an end to Dry January

11AM: How bad could the new administration be? 4PM: And Elon did that how many times?

Of course, if you don’t know him very well, you should call him Nosfera-vous.

Casual nazi salute on live television

Musk did a Nazi salute because he knows there are zero political consequences to him doing so, and he can harass and intimidate anyone who tries to call him out. Expect others to follow suit…there are going to be a lot of unacceptable words and behaviors that are going to become “normal” + defended

Elon was going to share DOGE with Vivek. He booted Vivek. Elon was going to be housed in the Eisenhower Building. Now he’s going to be in the West Wing. Trump kicked GOP officials out of the Rotunda so Elon and his pals could be there. Those of us who called Elon co-POTUS weren’t fooling around.

Now's the time to stock up on your banned books! Remember: - physical media is best (because unless you own the PDF/Epub, Amazon can take it from you!) - Shop local, thrift stores, used bookstores, or independent sellers - Thriftbooks is not owned by Amazon and supports independent bookstores.

If only we had access to any historical information to better understand what he's getting at...

He pardoned EVERY SINGLE PERSON... I won't hold my breath for people to be outraged.

This is the cowardice of The New York Times. Legacy media is failing.

Friendly reminder that if you buy a book on Kindle, you're only paying for the rights to read, not own. If a book truly gets banned, it will be taken away from digital platforms like Kindle, nook, etc. Consider getting physical copies of banned (or other) books! READ BANNED BOOKS #booksky

Here's Caitlyn Jenner at Mar-a-Lago for Trump's election night celebration--

😞

to recap: — Trump was *for* the TikTok ban — which the GOP Congress passed — and the GOP Supreme Court upheld — and even though Biden said he wouldn't enforce the ban, TikTok shut down anyway — so that Trump could "save" it — and the media fell for it we really do live in the dumbest fucking country

I can’t stop thinking about the Washington Post changing its “democracy dies in darkness” mission statement.

"[Elon] knows those computers better than anybody. Those vote counting computers. And we ended up winning Pennsylvania like in a landslide. IS THAT A FUCKING CONFESSION??? h/t: @acyn.bsky.social

You can blame Garland if you want to — and I agree that he has faults — but reading through the Smith report on election interference makes one thing clear: Voter apathy saved Trump from real accountability for the first time in his life. I hope everyone who stayed home is happy.

Overriding takeaway so far in Hegseth’s confirmation hearing: Hegseth will do whatever Trump tells him to do.

GOP members complaining about reduction of military standards while using a chart that misspells the word military!

Not a single Republican senator has dared express any concerns about Hegseth's inexperience, allegations of sexual assault, corruption, drinking problems, misogyny or his dangerous policy positions. They're terrified of Trump's wrath and Elon's money. They'd confirm a bar stool if he told them to.

Kavanaugh 2.0. Chris Wray is a disgrace.

BREAKING: Merrick Garland has released volume one of the Jack Smith report www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Congratulations, America. Great job of f'ing it up. Wonderful.

After the Palisades fire burned down his home, Casey Colvin feared the worst for his dogs, who he couldn't get back to despite desperately trying. But after five days, he and Oreo finally got a tearful and ecstatic reunion. "I'm never gonna let him go." 14/10 for all

"Mr. Trump and his aides are cagey on the question of whether he and Putin have already talked..." www.nytimes.com/2025/01/13/u...

Jack Smith has quietly resigned. Nothing left to do after turning over the report to Garland. Revealed in the footnote of a DOJ filing on Friday. He worked hard, fast, and productively for his country, and the outcome was a terrible disservice to him and his team.

This is the kind of leadership failure we should notice. Forget Trump here. These California Republicans thought it was more important to go to Florida than help in whatever way they could where the crisis is happening.

ATTN: THREAD: The loyalty interviews have begun in DC. As someone who has direct experience with this, I have a couple of recommendations for all federal workers. Please share this widely, and with any federal government employee you know. 1/

Not sure how DoJ can preserve them beyond January 20th.

This is Noodle. Blink and you'll miss her. And even if you see her, you'll probably still miss the cat. 13/10

He orchestrated a coup. It failed. He was a convicted felon. He rose to power on a wave of divisive propaganda and hateful anti-immigrant rhetoric. He promised to make things great again. He threatened to annex his neighbors. I'm referring, of course, to Adolf Hitler.

New -- DOJ says when it publicly releases Volume 1 of Special Counsel Jack Smith's report, it will also release correspondence between Trump and Smith about the report, per latest filing storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

"Nobody gets angrier than a narcissist being accused of something they actually did." Hide your ketchup.

New — Trump is sentenced to unconditional discharge. Judge Merchan: “This court has determined that the only lawful sentence that permits entry of judgement of conviction, without encroaching on the highest office of the land is unconditional discharge.”

Merchan made it pretty clear that if Trump hadn’t won the election, this sentence would have been different. This time, voter apathy saved Trump from prison. Hope everyone who stayed home is proud of themselves.

OH MY GOD! Trump will be sentenced tomorrow! I did not see this coming.

To my LGBTQ family…protect your relationships now. Put safeguards in place to protect your families.

Legal question: why did Jack Smith bother sharing the report with Trump, Nauta, and DeOliveira? Is that required?

Lies. Why not say lies. Why not explore why he lies. Why all authoritarians lie. FFS

If the 11th circuit overturns Cannon on the Jack Smith report, and Trump files for an emergency administrative stay with SCOTUS, guess which justice can issue the administrative stay unilaterally?

On the fourth anniversary of Donald's attempt to overturn the results of a free and fair election, Congress certified his electoral college victory. As a result, we learned the answer to this question: Was the insurrection Donald incited successful? And the answer is yes.

My fear: The 11th circuit will rule that Smith can release the J6 volume of his report. Trump will file an emergency stay with SCOTUS. And they grant it - pushing the release past 1/20, where it will die forever.

It's not clear to me that Cannon has jurisdiction to do this. She has already dismissed the case & it's on appeal to the 11th Circuit. That may be why Trump's co-defendants filed there as well. Jurisdiction over any further action in the case is now in their hands.

NEW: Judge Aileen Cannon has issued an order BLOCKING the release of Jack Smith’s report. Interestingly, she did this 45 minutes before Jack Smith said he would transmit the report to Merrick Garland so Garland couldn’t release it first. www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...

Matt Gaetz: the first person to last negative Scaramuccis.

NEW: The new AG nominee is Pam Bondi. She was the one that got a $25K donation from Trump and ended up not investigating Trump University, and then defended him during one of his impeachments.

Please ask yourself what the worst 10 allegations a prospective Secretary of Education could ever face are and then tell me this is not one of them Preventing child abuse and child sexual abuse is central to the mission of the American education system and McMahon already allegedly failed that test

The parade of questionably qualified rich white men with significant baggage continues.

Yep. And he gets all of this back now. All thanks to the corrupt, Trump-appointed Judge Cannon.
