Trump administration fires 20 immigration judges with no explanation. US Congress, constitution, civil society, press, unions ineffective in curbing his cabal's power. Trump quotes Napoleon - "He who saves his Country does not violate any Law”. Striking parallels with the rise of the Nazis.

I was one of those kids that got fed. They didn't care what color you were or about your income, they just did the right thing and I have never forgotten it. We were too poor to afford breakfast.

Gutting the CDC right as we’re on the cusp of major outbreaks of transmissible diseases is a very bad idea.

Word of the Day is ‘bayard’ (16th century): one who has the supreme self-confidence of ignorance.

Elon Musk's DOGE Is Still Blocking HIV/AIDS Relief Exempted From Foreign Aid Cuts The Trump Administration claims it is allowing "lifesaving" foreign aid to continue, but in reality, DOGE is preventing vital work on HIV and AIDS from saving lives www.wired.com/story/usaid-...

High Court hearing today on Thames Water plan to borrow another £3bn. Already has £17bn debt, mostly to fund dividends, wants 53% price hike. Nearly a third of customer bill covers interest payments. More debt= higher bills. Let it go bankrupt. Nationalise at nominal price.

RONALD REAGAN (1988): We should be aware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.

📌From Timothy Snyder:

Jasmine Crockett: "The problem is that Americans thought it was okay to take a full fledged criminal and make him the President of the US and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things. Let me tell you, we have a thug in charge of the US and if we don't wake up we may not have a US"

So now we have it. Rachel Reeves's claim that a third runway at Heathrow Airport would boost economic growth comes from a report commissioned by .... Heathrow Airport. Instead of acting in the national interest, she's channelling corporate lobbyists. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Perfectly captured.

If you are more worried about protecting a political party from criticism, or spend more time policing the different types of leftists, progressives or liberals, all the while a right wing regressive oligarchy is dismantling the foundations of your country, you need to recalibrate your priorities.

Reform wants to destroy the UK by destroying its money and its economy youtu.be/mKvVoGVDL5k?... Reform has proposed a Bill in parliament that would destroy the ability of the UK government to create money. A policy of that sort would crash UK economic credibility and our economy.

Really feel bad for that rat.

Trump is delivering political insanity, or fascism, or both www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/01... Trump is pushing politics into unknown territory unless, that is, you look at the rise of fascist empires, where the precedents are easy to find.

I see Nigel Farage is making vast sums flogging a dubious tax avoidance scheme. Those who actually love their country pay their taxes. They understand that without taxes we don't have schools and hospitals and the police. They certainly don't use their status as an MP to encourage tax avoidance.

This is Maisy. She gets an additional party hat for each birthday, and she just turned nine. 13/10 may this tradition go on forever

Just in from mammoth interview session to two bits of news. One that a DV perp got locked up because of something I did and that a vulnerable constituent had a a massive wrongful debt written off after our intervention. This is why I came to politics, this is why I'll just keep cracking on.

Today is an object lesson in the radicalisation of the British right-wing press. Britain is being disparaged and insulted by a foreign far-right conspiracy theorist. But the Mail, the Express, the Telegraph and even the Times choose focus their criticisism on the British prime minister instead.

Think different in 2025: Find and support businesses that are actually doing the right thing. Money talks—spend it where it matters.

Also, courage is contagious. I continue to stand against American fascism in the hope that others will take heart, too.
