The white young men are learning from their dads, guys. It’s not the podcasts. The point of origin is older white men, uncles, older cousins, bosses, dads and so forth. This culture comes from inside the house. I grew up in it, trust me, the podcasts are a symptom, not the disease

On International Women's Day 2025, I want to pay tribute to the courage of Dr Viktoriia Kovach, Chief Medical Officer of Ukraine's Third Assault Brigade. In January, I spent 24 hours with the combat medics she leads on the front line. Please read 🇺🇦 #IWD25 www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

A widely shared audio of Donald Trump Jr allegedly saying on his podcast that the US should have sent weapons to Russia has been very likely generated using AI, audio forensics experts have told BBC Verify. @shayan86.bsky.social @herdjemimah.bsky.social and Jacqui Galvin www.bbc.com/news/videos/...

This viral New York Post video, which falsely claims "USAID paid Time magazine $4m to name Zelensky person of the year", is fake and was never published by the New York Post. It's similar in style to videos created by a well-known Russian disinformation operation that imitiates major news outlets.

The idea that Zelenskyy should have sat there and let Trump and Vance berate him as though doing so would preserve US support for Ukraine over the long term is nothing short of delusional.

american masculinity is so amazing. caring about clothes as a man apparently makes you "gay" but our position on geopolitics totally depends on whether you wear a suit

Just a cultural commentary here for everyone watching those clips of Trump/Vance and Zelensky. How I was raised by Eastern Europeans and how I've seen it my whole life, when you lie to someone's face and they tell you the truth and you continue lying, it will be forcefully responded to.

'This will make great Television.‘ A sentence that will live in infamy.

On 15 March 1939 Hitler and his deputy summoned the Czech President to Hitler’s residence in Berlin and then bullied him to submitting to a German invasion of his country. They drove him to the point of physical collapse, threatening him until he eventually signed his country’s death warrant.

“Together, these actions will make people in the United States and around the world less prosperous and more vulnerable.” “We at Nature denounce this assault on science. And we encourage the global research community, wherever they can, to voice their opposition.”

Not shocked.

"Brazil has demonstrated how democracies that value themselves defend themselves," Quico Toro writes. "America could have done the same."

Sweet Baby Jesus, Why did you take our brains from us? Was it the Trump bibles? Was it worshiping a golden oaf? How can we make amends?

My warmest greetings go out to the wonderful people who built their careers sniffing out “Ukrainian Nazis” under every stone in Ukraine for tasty headlines that fueled Russian war propaganda on this-is-why-Ukraine-must-be-dealt-with, only to get Nazi salutes normalized in their own country.

A friend from the VA just sent this and asked me to share. PMDB is Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior in the workplace. THIS is the real war against women: being forced to say there are only 2 genders but not being allowed to mention 96% of violence is perpetrated by men.

A Brief History of America is in Decline Like The Roman Empire 🧵

I have literally no clue what to make of the fact that this is a stirring post about the need for European unity in the face of Russian aggression and US disengagement from *checks notes* Richard Branson.

Still internalising the Vance Munich speech. A sitting Vice President goes to Europe, barely says a word about the despotic murderous regime which has invaded its neighbour, and instead lectures his allies about freedom of speech. It’d be funny if it weren’t so serious.

Notable that Elons crew of incels and edgelords are full fledged men for the purposes of being given the keys to car to run the govt. But for the purposes of being accountable for their actions they’re just kids from good families with youthful indiscretions.

I’m not saying we don’t still have a journey to go on, but somehow we got to the point in the UK where I can renew my passport wholly online without having first given some random far right activist uncontrolled access to my social security records.

Whenever I see a post start with "I ran such and such through ChatGPT and here's what it said" I read it as "I cannot think independently and have nothing of further value to add. Here is the opinion of fancy autocomplete:"

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. More than 90 members of my extended family were murdered. Children. Parents. Grandparents. I'm sharing a piece I wrote in 2021. #neverforget open.substack.com/pub/jenmen/p...

The Nazi extermination camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau - the scene of one of the darkest chapters in human history. 80 years since its liberation, as we gather at the site of horror to honour those who perished and those who survived, we recommit to our fight against hate.

Io davvero non dovrei avere tutto questo tempo a disposizione tra una riunione e l'altra. (Altrimenti vaterco e gluisco, e molto raramente barigatto).

Read this please.

For the 750th anniversary of the events of 1275, I took the opportunity to consider the fifteen months after Edward I's return to England from the crusades as they related to the Jews for @historytoday.com. Very happy to see it out! @lincolnmedieval.bsky.social www.historytoday.com/archive/feat...

This was one of the craziest and most troubling stories of the election. And the way certain people who uncritically shared this story was despicable.

Can’t help feeling ‘retaliation’ is a very poor choice of word here. A retaliation is when you do something in response to someone else’s actions. Unless we are to believe in the unlikely scenario that Trump is motivated by a sense of anti-imperialism, then Denmark’s crime would be ‘existing’.

Facebook suppressed promotion of political content during a Democratic administration and is restoring it for a Republican one

Cannot wait for the day my fridge locks me out because I can no longer afford the subscription service or stops working because it’s aged out of the manufacturer supporting the software.
