We must work together to build a fairer, healthier, more equal society; put more money into people's pockets; tax the multinationals, & act on climate change. We also need to find ways to improve voter engagement.
I’m looking forward to working with our councillors for the benefit of everyone.

I hope that we learn the right lessons from these results: tackle the real causes of falling living standards & broken public services, & protect the vulnerable. Austerity was a disaster. The right offer the politics of despair - we need to make hope possible. We can do so much better.

GPs must be a part of the conversation around law change. As we progress the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill in Committee stage and beyond, I am glad that the College have signalled renewed openness to the issue. 3/3

My experience as a GP confirmed my support for change as some I’ve cared for have asked me to hasten their deaths or sought assistance abroad. Dying people should not have to face these impossible decisions, but that is the reality of the blanket ban on assisted dying. 2/3

Preventing open and honest conversations with patients, denying them the ability to make a fully informed decision, doesn't keep people or doctors safe. Clarity in the law and the process does.

This is also a matter of equality. This amendment ensures that access is not limited only to those who already know it exists. And it avoids doctors being trapped in a legal quagmire over informing patients of their rights.

That is why I will be supporting Kim's amendment - it is absolutely right to ensure that doctors are able to make terminally ill patients aware of all options available to them, of which assisted dying is just one.

As a doctor, I believe placing people at the centre of the care they receive, being able to talk their options through and ensure they can make fully informed choices is an approach that underpins modern medicine.

The UK has always prided itself on offering sanctuary to those in need, but this policy risks undermining that tradition. While it is right to ensure a well-managed immigration system, we must not allow the erosion of fairness and compassion.

It will make those who have fled war, persecution, and hardship, voiceless. We should be offering them the opportunity to rebuild their lives and become fully integrated into British society.

I am worried about changes to immigration rules, which make it impossible for refugees who arrive in the UK via dangerous routes to ever become British citizens. This is contrary to international law (which states that refugees should not be penalised for illegal entry).
