No matter what he said yesterday, I take this to mean Trump isn’t going to obey court orders to bring anybody back from El Salvador.

“It wasn’t just the profit. It was the precision. The market moved before the news. The options were bought before the rally. The volume spiked in contracts that almost never see this kind of interest unless something is expected”

Absolutely terrifying. “Legal experts agree that sending American citizens to prison in El Salvador would be flagrantly illegal under both U.S. and international law — and that the idea itself is shockingly authoritarian, with few parallels in our nation’s history.”

Dr Peter Marks, "Vaccines have been studied very extensively for being potentially associated with autism" "That theory has been debunked" "One study in Denmark, over 600,000 children. It shows that if anything, children had a lower rate of autism than unvaccinated children"

A helpful guide to the current state of US trade policy:

If you ever want to dispel the belief that Silicon Valley leadership is, as a group, smart simply remember that many of them look up to Curtis Yarvin as an intellectual leader.

Trump et al are using "anti-semitism" as an excuse for them to take over campuses. This is how they are running government university campuses.

BREAKING: Last night, the Harvard faculty chapter of the AAUP and the national AAUP filed a lawsuit & TRO to block the Trump administration from illegally demanding that we keep quiet and change how we teach and research at the point of a financial gun. actionnetwork.org/user_files/u...

This has got to be the most malignant HHS secretary that our country has ever appointed to this position. He just strings words together to make them sound ominous with absolutely no understanding of what they mean.

"The bond market is not like the Supreme Court, or Paul Weiss, or Columbia University, or any of the other institutions Trump has conquered, co-opted, or corrupted." "He cannot scare it into submission. He cannot bribe it." from @jvl.bsky.social www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-fina...

Tale as old as time. Big businesses who make friends with the kleptocrats get special exemptions from the regulatory burdens so they can lock in their market position, rather than removing the regulatory burdens across the board.

”white supremacist book purge” is exactly right. it goes along with the segregationist purge of the service academies.

Maine won a TRO against the feds for attempting to withhold federal funds based on Title IX without following the proper procedure. This was all triggered by Governor Mills standing up to Trump re the state's inclusive policies for trans athletes. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Hey John Roberts, you are the author of this.

i have argued before that MAGA is recapitulating antebellum pro-slavery ideas about citizenship and bodily autonomy. one thing i am also thinking about, when it comes to the rendition of people to a foreign gulag, is the way it is reminiscent of the kidnapping of free blacks for sale into slavery

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” - First Amendment US Constitution

There's only one scenario in which it is "realistic" that "we'll know what causes autism by September": Multiple prior admins, including Trump I, obtained and concealed conclusive evidence of the causes of autism. WaPo has no qualms suggesting such a deranged conspiracy theory might be true.

Unprecedented corruption happening right in front of us

This is, in addition to very obviously denying people benefits and clearly excluding the vast majority of seniors, a violation of federal law on accessibility, especially since X requires users to log in and agree to the terms of service to see published content.

It's impossible to overestimate how damaging this would be for everything from routine weather forecasting, to modeling and tracking hurricanes, to preparing for climate change. Every American will be worse off if this happens. For decades to come. (Gift link): www.nytimes.com/2025/04/11/c...

Elon Musk cutting that waste, fraud and abuse!

Even after adjusting for inflation, the US government is spending more money in 2025 than it did in 2024. Via @gelliottmorris.com.

I’m not kidding; this is DOGE at work; multiple US citizens getting notices that they just leave the country because USCIS is revoking their humanitarian parole. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Trump take house

3 days ago RFK Jr. told the CDC to stop recommending water fluoridation, claiming it was a neurotoxin (this is a lie). Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development

Trump is engaging in a massive purge of public servants, so why does he want firms to offer them pro bono help? It will legal aid for Trump appointees for when the break the law (also, the firms are told to hire Trump admin alum). They are turning these law firms into Trump law firms.

If you read this report, you understand how the scam is going to work: El Salvador will refuse to return people the Trump administration is supposed to be "facilitating" the return of by claiming that they have _their own national interest_ in keeping them. It's a scam...and it's Human Trafficking.

BREAKING: The White House has clarified that total U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods now stand at 145%, not 125%, following the latest hike. That $10 Amazon knickknack? It’ll now set you back $24.50. THIS IS TRUMPFLATION!

Been talking to international investors all week. They are questioning the basic competency of US policymakers in a way I have never heard before. Yes the Fed etc makes mistakes, but we have never seen such pure recklessness

So basically he moved the deck chairs around a little.

It's considered uncouth to say this but the entire impetus of the antivaxx movement is the idea that having an autistic child is worse than a dead child

OK, folks - Social Security is an *earned* benefit. One pays for it from what one earns. It is a retirement/disability/survivors benefit. The amount received depends on how long we work before we (or our survivors) receive it. *It is not a handout.* It pays us back what we pay in. It is *our* money.

Law firms if you make a deal with this man keep in mind that you’re also signing up for him to publicly humiliate you like this every few days

Trump says the legal services he’s gotten cowardly law firms to pledge are his to use as he pleases, even when he’s out of office. This means he’s used government coercion to obtain a personal benefit worth millions. It’s utterly corrupt and probably illegal.

My family got these payments when my dad died at 34 years old after serving in the Navy for a decade from what he had paid in. I was five. Jeanine is an incurious ignoramus. Thanks @jessicatarlov.bsky.social for correcting her, which is God’s work.

A man who’s committed five decades of financial criminal activity just had a government blessed insider trading event Whenever this fiend eventually leaves office - criminal charges against him and everyone who knew today what he was going to do, need to stick #insidertrading

Forcing people to pay $130 for a passport in order to vote is just a Jim Crow poll tax by another name. It is blatantly unconstitutional.

Working Americans: please remember that this is grift parading as policy. Nothing they do - not tariffs, not terrorizing immigrants - is for you. It’s to make them richer and to make people too fearful to speak up. Once you realize that, things will start to make sense.
