Trump Removed Tariffs On Products Tech Billionaires Companies Import So They Could Remain Productive And Profitable Businesses! Trumpβs Tariffs Remain For Struggling Farmers And Small BusinessesβGoing Bankrupt From Trumpβs Tariffs!
In DonTheCon's latest voice vomit he bragged about countries 'kissing my ass' to negotiate tariffs. WRONG! U.S. companies like Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia are begging him to drop the tariffs. Delta Airlines are even threatening to cancel an order for nearly 200 planes from Airbus. Sort that Boeing!
I just read in iPhone news that Siri is supposedly being blamed for a person being added to a top secret signal chat accidentallyβ¦suck assesβ¦I swear you can tell which companies want to keep their profits by how they keep throwing themselves on the rug for Trumpβ¦the blackmail must be out of control.
If China wants to see the techbros have a hissy fit and scramble, it might be a good time to just double the price on all those essential parts. They could recoup their tariff loses.
And is a complete utter idiot surrounded by drunken monkeys. I do not think it should be underestimated how dumb these people are. It's coming out Trump and his staff was blindsided by the bond run. I mean really dipshits? Lol!
Itβs tough because if a company is not at least cordial to the administration, Trump will make their lives worse in the pettiest ways possible, like he tried to do to Maine when the governor disagreed with him.
Apple did donate to the inauguration- 1 million. Maybe this is why? Apple still in bind b/c of tariffs on China & I phone so locked in to manufacturers in China. Bleh!
Do we have direct reports that π tariffs are actually being collected?
I just had a long talk over π³ with a local restaurant owner. He said the only supplier of theirs thatβs actually been hit so far is aluminum foil. Everything else β coffee, avocado, etc β is flying through customs as usual.
This is probably because it only applies to shipments that weren't en route as of 4/9 right? Actual ship travel time from China to LA is ~13 days, plus time for unloading. Only air freight could really be getting hit by now. (Aluminum tariffs took effect 3/12.)
I don't think that's a major factor, since it was temporary and the money's still owed regardless. (Certainly a sign of the dysfunction that constantly changing policies causes though.)
Right, the importer is still gonna have on their books they'll pay eventually. Maybe it is just the delivery timeline, but there's some randomness. Personal case here, looking at Subarus: multiple dealers saying tariffs resulting in shipment delays and price hikes.
I think thatβs part of it, though Iβve also heard inconsistent enforcement of de minimis charges, even when they were supposed to be in effect. I would not be surprised if it literally varies by entry point depending on who got what message.
Simplifying a bit. Sure. You should rather direct your ire at the πΊπΈ electorate for electing a mobster, not at companies who simply try to survive. TC certainly didn't vote for the criminals currently running the country.
It's unclear. They are exempted from the reciprocal tariffs for sure, but it's so poorly worded you can't tell if they're subject to the 20% fentanyl tariffs.
At this point, things are so muddled, I'm not sure the Administration knows what the the rates are on Chinese goods (even the White House got it wrong when they said the rate was 125% when it was actually 145%).
Imagine being the guy at Apple who convinced the company to spend however much it took to fill a jetliner full of iPhones and fly them into the US to beat the import taxes, and then this happens.
Honestly Tim Cook came into Apple as the make the supply chain work guy and he was by all accounts good at it. If any CEO would be sympathetic to someone having made that call, I would think it would be him.
The crop of new homeless people coming up will be selling apples on every street corner soon enough...so no worry about tariffs for THAT item, at least.
China has the US by the balls with trade. They can get everything we export to them from elsewhere and/or then stop our exports of food by saying they are βbug riddledβ or GMO. I donβt think we can say their IPhone are bug ridden unless they come with TicTock pre-installed. Right?
Or they can just cancel purchase contracts, which they have done in last 72 hrs - lp gas and beef that I am aware of. Probs lots of others too. They just switched their purchases to other countries.
You see, making an iPhone in the US would require advanced tooling, a robust infrastructure, highly paid workers with a very good education. Sounds "woke" or whatever.
You know what Iβm still amazed at is that after the last βfake Chinese tariff dealβ that bankrupted farmers and cost a $40 billion bailout and destroyed the export marketplace to #Canada and #Mexico Trumpβs daughter received over 60 global trademarks that are worth billions of dollars ...
> abusing the #EmolumentsClause and nothing has been done about it. #Chinaπ
Donβt you think itβs weird that none of these trademarks have been rescinded from the Trump crime family considering US taxpayers paid for them.
Yeah, and if Apple wanted to make its laptops in the US, itβd pay a 145% tariff on all the parts they imported from China. There is no rhyme or reason with this bs.
It's the ONLY apple we had growing up. We picked bushels in the Fall, and they lasted all winter, so I assume the choice for that variety boiled down to their shelf life. They were only used for eating fresh and never for baking, so that tracks, too.
This was a reciprocal move which allowed our framers to export into China. US Farmers have an over supply and if they canβt export they will rot on the trees.
Like, how? How, how, how? How is anyone not eyes-wide-open, squinting at the blinding radiance of this truth: if Trump does you a favor, he will ask you for everything in return and call you ungrateful if you deny him?
China said it would no longer listen to the US. Is it going to permit the US to cherry pick? Might it respond with export duties or restricted exports to the US?
So besides the market manipulation issues, what deal did apple cut to get this? The company has some roots in protecting the individual consumerβs privacy rights. Are those now gone, perhaps?
The perspective on that photo isnβt terribly clear. Hereβs a better photo where you can see that they are basically so that bridge crew can go all the way out and see over the side of the ship. Particularly helpful when docking.
(Source: I once got a tour of the bridge of a cruise ship with the same sort of arrangement. They even had secondary controls in the superstructure wings so the ship could be controlled by somebody looking over the side.)
I guess this is hard to model, but if all the billionaire & wealthy business dudes pay their Trump mafia protection money to be free of tariff price hikes, small businesses will go under & so many more will become poor.
So whoβs gonna buy all those tariff-free iPhones?
Have you ever considered becoming a political consultant for the democratic party charging like $1k/hr? Because this picture is better than literally anything they've produced in the last 10 years or so.
Well, when it's all tariffed to death and you can't afford to feed a family while Tim Apple gets his exemptions, you still won't be able to afford any of it.
Ok, so how many people in Washington state are flocking to pick apples for a living? If we don't import them, we need labor to gather them.... how will we find that labor and how much are you willing to pay for it?
This is whatβs infuriating. They are gonna destroy small businesses and the corporations will continue to get richer and more powerfulβ¦ unless we the people stop them.
I still remember Dr. Fauci covering his mouth and trying hard not to laugh behind Trump when Trump was saying utter nonsense. Fauci knew he was an imbecile, as anyone with a recordable IQ would have.
Thatβs why they hate Fauci, a man who has literally given his life to science & the advancement of R&D to eradicate disease here & worldwide. He now pays for around the clock security for him & his family. This is how magas/trumpβs America pay those we should honor & hold in the highest esteem
US commerce secretary Howard Lutnick said smartphones, computers and other consumer electronics may be hit with separate tariffs in a month, suggesting that exemptions offered on Saturday could be temporary. https://www.ft.com/content/9038804f-cf69-4193-9332-8b5ea1f9af4b
When asked to clarify whether tariffs on iPhones might βcome back on in a month or soβ, Lutnick replied: βCorrect. Thatβs rightβ.β.β. We need our medicines and we need semiconductors and our electronics to be built in America.β
His comments will stoke uncertainty for businesses...
"The tariff reprieve does not extend to a separate Trump levy on China β a 20% duty applied to pressure Beijing to crack down on fentanyl, incl the shipment of precursor materials. Other previously existing levies, including those that predate Trumpβs current term, also appear unaffected." Bloomberg
why could they not announce this on day #1 aka "liberation day"? Why does it have to come new "rules" every couple of days? The US administration is so clueluess.
Are they actually exempt, or just exempt from the higher rate? The messaging I've seen seems to suggest everything is still subject to a 10% minimum tariff.

better than Zuckerberg.
Oh, waitβ¦.tariffs and trade wars are the opposite of free trade.
Itβs Republicans who are against free trade. (Itβs obvious)
The one with Trumps bite out of it
paid $millions for the inauguration of that privilege
But if Tim Cook is now funding and pandering to Trump then I will no longer buy any Apple products.
There are alternatives to everything Apple offers. Just needs to be woven together.
The European sources on now buying E.U. products and services has lots of info.

Resist.
In a world of misinformation, we really need to bring back the subjunctive.
But I just wrote three website pages for a plumber.
I haven't lost a client yet because of this, but I like to work for people in the trades...
Donβt you think itβs weird that none of these trademarks have been rescinded from the Trump crime family considering US taxpayers paid for them.
Flavor got lost in there somewhere.
And yep, that's the only apple we had growing up, too.
Growers focused on market appeal to meet consumer preferences for appearance and durability, taste and texture suffered.
Cutting rhubarb with strawberry and making apple pies with red apples and not Bramleys or Granny Smiths.
It's manipulation 101.
Why are investors buying Appl? They are a target.
So whoβs gonna buy all those tariff-free iPhones?

IMHO, Android is a better computer, iPhones are a better phone.
This is a Linux vs Windows argument, though. There are no winners. π
Seems like EVERY policy choice these days amplifies privilege.
There's no business that lobbies for the poor. Middle class, maybe. Not the poor. There's no financial incentive.
Turns out that running a government like a predatory business is a bad idea.
Then substitute for it a 4 th grade formula: 10%

The drug trade will be re-routed from the border to European casinos, where it belongs anyhow.

You could replace "tariffs" with "taxes" to make it clear for the MAGA dummies in the back of the room.
