KEEP PUSHING! If they won’t do a town hall DEMAND ONE

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

Today's front page of The New York Post.

because "free speech"

“Now is the moment to recognize the scale of the seismic change unfolding, and to find new ways to live in the world that a very different kind of America is beginning to create” www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

“If FBI agents who are just doing their jobs aren’t free of the risk of political prosecution, then who is? In a country run by a president who has accumulated all power into his own hands, you never know who might run afoul of the leader’s good graces.” joycevance.substack.com/p/kash-patel...

This would be completely illegal. But you wouldn’t know that from reading this post, the headline, or the lede. Unbelievably bad.

Hey congressional Republicans, still waiting for you to announce how much you’re cutting from congress’ own $6.5 billion budget….

⚡️Europe needs 'massive defense plan,' US 'can't be weak' with Putin, Macron says. Europe needs a "massive defense plan" to face the growing threat from Russia, French President Emmanuel Macron said in a wide-ranging social media live feed on Feb. 20.

"Most Americans don’t want to believe that their government is taking lifesaving medicine away from sick people in Africa, or betraying Afghans who sacrificed for this country" But it is. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...

Never forget.

Report: You Live In An Embarrassing Country

looking back everything went to shit when Schoolhouse Rock stopped airing

Carville: USAID spent $41 billion the federal budget is 6 trillion. Actually comes to something like .014%. So take that and put it against the 6 trillion and see what you have done when your president is responsible for more federal debt than any president in the history of the United States.

No, but if you’re looking for one, I am aware of a guy you work with that was indicted four times and convicted of thirty-four felonies.

I don't think the Dems can stop the firings. But why aren't they proposing legislation that assures those that took the buyout get paid , and that all that are fired, get at least a year severance and health benefits? And any one with a health condition is covered the entire time they are sick?

In future generations, when your children and grandchildren look back on this moment, they are not going to ask about the price of eggs. They are going to ask you what you did. Not what you felt. Not what you paid. But what you did. And I want to be able to say I did everything I possibly could.

⚡️63% of Ukrainians approve Zelensky as president, poll shows.

Remember when America had friends? Like a month ago?

❗️🇺🇦 "As the President of Ukraine, I am not going to accept any Russian ultimatums," — Zelensky

Calling zelensky a dictator and calling himself a king in the span of 1 hour Only in trump 2.0

Zelensky was willing to sacrifice himself to save his country. Trump sacrificed his country to save himself.

Putin is a dictator. Trump is a wannabe dictator. Zelensky is a hero.

Approval ratings Zelensky 52% Trump 46.8% But after refusing to turn over Ukraine's resources to Trump, Zelensky's has probably gone up to 90%. Ukrainians generally love Zelensky.

Zelensky is fighting for freedom. The only thing Trump has ever fought for is himself.

Zelensky is a hero 🇺🇸 🇺🇦

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

It continues to amaze me that those who know & have suffered under Putin know who he is & what he does, while too many Americans still believe we can “strike a deal.”

Blumenthal: "What world is he living in? It is not only contrary to the facts and the truth but utterly despicable. A disgusting betrayal of a country that has bled and fought and died for freedom ... the president's surrender is pathetic and weak."

Everyone has things in their career of which they're ashamed. Nothing...and I mean nothing...in my career in politics makes me more ashamed and regretful than supporting and promoting Marco Rubio. He is the most craven betrayer of his stated ideals of any human I've ever met.

Another piece I wrote for the @thebulwark.bsky.social on yesterday’s negotiation with Russia. www.thebulwark.com/p/we-are-neg...

The European Union has agreed on the 16th package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions will take effect on February 24.

“No, Putin cannot be trusted. He is a WAR CRIMINAL. He should be in prison for life — or even executed,” — Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, Roger Wicker

US Senator Roger Wicker, head of the US Senate Committee on Armed Services, commented on the talks with Putin: "No, Putin cannot be trusted. Putin is a war criminal and should be in jail for the rest of his life, if not executed."

Jim Acosta: I think the AP should consider whether or not to sue the administration… and the rest of the press corps should start seriously considering whether it’s worth sending everyone into the Oval Office, onto Air Force One, or into the briefing room.

A comment by the great scholar John Meacham, quoting Sam Rayburn: “Any jackass can kick down a barn. It takes a carpenter to build one.”

Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post would not run this ad. This is the power of oligarchy.

Just the Secretary of Defense announcing to the world he’s got tax problems. No biggie.

Earlier this month, Sheinbaum shared a letter addressed to Google with reporters, arguing that the U.S. had no authority to unilaterally rename the Gulf.

Every aspect of the Rubio-Lavrov talks in Riyadh is bad. Negotiating over the head of Ukraine indicates a sellout. Excluding the Europeans reveals indifference to Ukraine's future economic reconstruction (since the Europeans will pay the largest share).

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

What a disgrace. Bezos and the newspaper he has destroyed should be grateful that anyone thinks it’s still worthwhile to buy ad space from them. *This* is how democracy dies.

Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

Could someone out there write a definitive guide on convenient alternatives to using Amazon.com for goods and books and whatnot? Asking for some folks who don’t want to see democracy die in darkness.
