Could someone out there write a definitive guide on convenient alternatives to using https://Amazon.com for goods and books and whatnot?

I'm going to try the direct to seller option
Store this phone number in your phone.
2.) If the book is not on the shelf, they will order it for you.
3.) Either go in and pick it up or have it sent to you.
Do NOT shop Amazon!!
Bing is Microsoft and so far I haven't heard that Gates has catered to the WH felon, so they're another alternative.
https://yahoo.com
https://bing.com
1) Search company name on Duck, Duck, Go or other non google search engine
2) Order from the company's own site.
3) Still get product in 2-8 days
4) Company avoids losing 25% margin to Amazon
5) Avoid giving money to Bezos
But a few things I need as a disabled person I must buy through them or go without.
Sigh.
dont feel guilty
Library was published in 1957
You can shoose what local bookstore to support at https://bookshop.org or get used at https://www.hpb.com
researched grocery chains - Kroger (Mariano’s) still has DEI but not Albertsons (Jewel).
Chewy’s still has DEI -also Home Depot.
for now that’s where I am in dealings with addiction to Amazon.
No thank you.
I need an option for Target as well
Sadly not a good list
Thank you for this.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is out of touch.
If you can't find the original manufacturer, then it was some knockoff trash that you're better off without in the first place.

in a couple of days, if nec. “Unabridged Books” is the one near me in Chicago. Good publisher remains too. There are others. Look for them in your area.
However, there is no need to refrain as long as you use good alternatives. Not taking returns though? I've not had this experience from small businesses. Maybe occasionally, with good reason
I can find literally anything necessary to modern life at far below retail costs.
Given enough time, I can often find it for free.
Nothing gives Big Corps the 🖕more, than buying their nearly-new overstock, that they have to sell at a loss, & making $$ reselling it.
Trumps oligarch!!
Be creative.
I wanted to pick up the Handmaid's Tale today from the library, but they get a vacay day, so I'll have to wait.
Now I'm tackling "The Goldfinch"
Amazon needs competition that isn't Walmart or Target. We hate them too.
That we won't allow ourselves to be inconvenienced.
Appreciate the input.
We live more than a hundred miles from any shoppin...
(I change my cards out often)
Thank you! 💯🇨🇦🍁📍
Or
I go to the manufacturer’s website and order directly from them.
They are in no way an improvement on Amazon - they are just as bad https://united4respect.org/reports/walmart-political-spending-2024/

The oligarchs know they have us by the “shorties” and the only way to escape their grasp is to sting them financially.
The 700-800 pt drop in the market certainly changed Trump’s mind on Mexico/Canada tariffs.
A guide would be great.

It's a non-profit and a great company.
Seriously though, they carry the exact same thing at 1/2 the price.
They could be the ones who voted for FOTUS.
Please do some research.
Amazon!!!
For Meta, post your new handle and/or new social media location for a few days; download data; delete accounts; delete apps.
Google is harder. Personally? Time consuming but doable. Professionally? I need a minute.
Getting around in the winter as a paraplegic is a daily struggle, but an enclosed mobility scooter would be life-changing—giving me the freedom and independence I desperately need. Please consider donating or sharing my GoFundMe🙏✨🔗 https://gofund.me/0af928df
Trying to remember to use my local library more, too. It’s less convenient when there’s a waitlist for the books I want, but remembering I’m not putting money into Bezos’ pocket helps me find patience. 😁
With all at stake, some sacrifices are inevitable. Especially true as we urge Dems in congress to risk life, limb and livelihood from the comfort of our phones and keyboards.

In the meantime, we are monetizing the opposition's platforms, feeding them our data, and providing fodder for the perception of "Lib tears" and exaggeration.

The idea is not warehouse-sized goods for all — the idea is create competition with fair wages and DEI. Period.
Much of Costco's inventory is available online, and the company has free shipping on many items. Unfortunately, online prices are sometimes higher to offset shipping costs and nonmembers pay a 5% surcharge over what members pay for online orders.
I don't see them on the website.
Check out Thrive, Grove, Uncommon Goods, Public Goods, Etsy, Quince, Macy's, Costco, World Market, Society 6... not a comprehensive guide but a start, and some fun for an end-times Monday afternoon.
Worth a try.
There must be smaller competitors to Amazon - we've got that here in Denmark. They might be a little more expensive, but Amazon doesn't get your business. And isn't that the goal? Please enlighten me.

Okay, here's that information in list format, highlighting alternatives to Amazon for online shopping:
Etsy: Handmade, vintage, and unique items. Great for artisans and boutique shops.
Walmart Marketplace: Diverse products with fast shipping options.
Target: Low prices on clothing, electronics, and more.
Costco: Electronics, appliances, jewelry, and outdoor products.
Uncommon Goods: Unique and thoughtful items from independent artisans with a focus on sustainability.
World of Books: Ethical website for cheap, secondhand books.
Made Trade: Value-based shopping for sustainable, vegan, or BIPOC-owned business products.
WeBuyBlack: Directory of independent Black-owned businesses.
Newegg: Consumer electronics and computer hardware.
eBay: Large marketplace with fixed prices or auctions.
Facebook Shops: Direct sales on Facebook and Instagram.
A Good Company: Focuses on conscious consumerism and sustainable products.
EarthHero: Wide variety of products from sustainable businesses.
This is a wasted post.
Any alternatives are trash and scam magnets.
So really we’re stuck.
Thanks for the reminder.
The effort expended on whining that it’s too hard is the waste.

Follow it through till you find their website or contact information and buy directly from the vendor.
Enjoy using Amazon to help you to cut them out of your purchase.

I don’t feel I’m missing out.
That part.
I’ll also be physically shopping wherever possible. I’m fortunate to have many independent bookstores and other shops here.
https://Thriftbooks.com or https://abebooks.com. Utilize libraries, Buy Nothing Groups or local used book stores. Form a book swap club with the community.
A lot of smaller retailers are for online sales now too. Most of them are fine
PUNISH Bezos = CANCEL Amazon Prime
(Except I’ve blocked the Amazon website from loading on any of my devices….along with mainstream media URLs, etc.)

Please do some research.
Took me searching FB, Nextdoor, Google (+ the app we had access to while working on Kamala's campaign) to find a local liberal company for my Trash Service.
Especially if you live in a red area (80% GOP here). The 20% stay cloaked to prevent backlash & retribution.

More of them popping up
Not only great books
But many have great events
Not the same immediacy as Amazon
But you rarely have a book emergency
In a pinch
Can visit Barnes & Noble
In person or online
They are re-emerging
It works just like Amazon
Are we seriously this lazy
If you feel you can’t live without Amazon then use it. Ppl don’t want to use it because of Bezos. If you have to pay more for your protest so be it. It’s called a sacrifice.

Used to make at least 8 purchases a month. I have not bought anything since Jan. 20th, when the #RichBros were flanking Trump in a sign of fealty.
No walmart
No Target
Fu$k them all.
COSTCO for all household staples
NOVICA , ETSY for gifts and fun things, etc.
https://bookshop.org for books from independent bookstores
Buy goods from producers/distributors directly (use Amazon search to identify p/d initially, then navigate to their sites)

Use price match if possible.
Consumer Reports online available through your library.
The easiest is to use Amazon to find the exact product and price you want, then look on eBay for some independent seller.

I often use DuckDuckGo (not the Amazon app) to find the product, track down the seller/manufacturer, and use a competitor or direct order.
I’ve been super surprised that the price is much cheaper and the shipping is equivalent!
So successful the envious criminal in England decided they must be destroyed.
The winners fill the history books with lies.
Costco for almost everything including rotisserie chicken.
Books A Million for books and the like.
ABC store for comfort, relaxing, satisfying Adult beverages.
I never thought I would see our leader trying so hard to make the USA a Russian clone in my lifetime.
Libby for borrowing audio books from libraries.
Whenever want something from Amazon, I look up the manufacturer to see if I can buy it directly. It’s often cheaper, like my dog’s freeze dried treats.
As for other things, I note the brand and then google that looking for local places that have it or order directly from the company’s website. That sale will mean so much more to either of those options than to Bezos.
Need another reminder that Amazon sucks and why you should ditch it? American Oligarch Jeff Bozo doesn't have enough money so he is profiting off of the 51st State threats the U.S. has made to Canada by selling "51st State" merchandise on https://Amazon.ca.
I'm okay without it.

I know when to say I am wrong and admit it.
Thank you.
The Good Unite Us app is very helpful, but you still have to search for DEI shifts regularly.
"SAN FRANCISCO -- Apple renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America on its maps Tuesday after an order by President Donald Trump was made official by the U.S. Geographic Names Information System."
Even if Tim Cook is fisting Trump by donating 1 million it still remains Gulf of Mexico

Apple happened to be on my radar when I saw this thread because I've been keeping an eye on them. I'm all MAC professionally. They are better than Google by a mile.
The donation is odious, but it was personal.
Putting unqualified people into critical jobs is a great way to ruin the world.
Mediocrity on steroids.
Hiring disable people is a very good thing to do. Putting them in jobs they can't do well is not good.
Everyone excels at something. DEI ignores that.
They do not contribute to the GOP.
I definitely appreciate anyone letting me know of misinformation.
Costco,Trader Joes is a must to have.
Kohls,JCP for clothes?
I'm still figuring it out.
Happy hunting.
