Yep. While I willing accept this additional income, I have to ask at what cost?

I have found a useful tool that may be helpful in determining your new monthly Primary Insurance Amount (PIA). You can access it at:
ssa.tools
The site provides an easy and seamless method for moving your income history over to the calculation tool.

Thanks for your comment. My partner and I visited Japan 4 years ago and look forward to returning. I'll drop you a line when I learn about the computed increase from SSA.

Is it fair to assume, given my situation, that the amount I will receive for an increased monthly distribution will be increased by this $383.50 (less withheld taxes)?

I also taught for over 20 years where no contributions to Social Security were made, and enjoy a reasonable pension as a consequence of that employment. For 2012, the maximum penalty appears to be $383.50/mo.

I have a question relative to the Act and the resulting increase that centers on WEP only. I turned 62 in 2012. I worked more than 35 years in years where I and my employers contributed to Social Security.
