Yeah its like the final step of a sketch, right before lineart. Clean enough to be appreciated, you could even just add your shadows now if you wanted and make it a finished piece.

I remember those rules as well xD we'd also occasionnally follow the 'no-legendary' which would piss me off as I was a huge fan of Articuno. A fat blue icy chicken, loved it x)

final fantasy 9, I was around 10yo.
That game was packed with so many things, I remember being fully immersed in it, led me to try ff10, then tales of symphonia.

as someone back from a year long art break, I'd recommend you to not beat yourself over it too much, there's a gap between how we see our work vs how people see it.
Don't be like me and stop because you've been too harsh,
Focus on getting the idea across instead of having the best line ^^

I'm more of a completionist but I totally get your reasoning ! After several hours on the same, if stuck, it either end by letting it go, or posting the sketch ( while grunting and self-hating lol)
