Good luck Sai!

I recently saw a video on the making of megaman 3 where the narrator pronounced keiji inafune “kaiji inafoon”. Like, it’s one thing to slip up in an opinion piece (though still lazy) but in a video as research-centric as a game’s development history? Come on

I’ve been reading conversations with Mark Frost about their time writing Twin Peaks together. We truly lost one of the greats today.

You made it to Please Mr. Lostman! Definitely gonna have to check out these other albums if they’re being grouped with PML. Really been enjoying these posts too, hope you stick with them

Yeah, I think anything more than what we got in the original release will feel like an improvement. I followed XV from the moment it was announced (vsXIII) and so much of my hype was literally just getting to play the one segment of the story they completely cut out lmao

Yeah, I honestly think getting to explore Insomnia is the biggest draw for me. I was so disappointed when the vanilla edition of the game cut out most of that section considering it was such a big part of the promotion and the “modern fantasy” vibe.

I think it’s definitely worth a few playthroughs but I don’t know if the new story additions really did much for me, at least not enough to stick with it and get every ending. Rin was a neat idea, but ultimately felt pretty tacked on (much like Sumire in P5 Royal)

I honestly liked FB, but I think the OG’s soundtrack is the superior version (thankfully you can switch between both). The remix mode added a nice refresher for people who knew the original puzzles well, and it fixed some glitches that made completing the original game near impossible, so overall

I haven’t played XV since it originally launched in 2016 but I remember feeling the same way about the characters, they do a great job making the party feel cohesive. I’ve heard Royal Edition really improves on a lot of the story beats and such, so I’m curious to check that out at some point.

You have solid taste in games, definitely followed. Curious what your thoughts on FFXV are so far?

I go into a bit more of the similarities and plot analysis of Persona 4 (as well as Twin Peaks mania in Japan!) in my video on settings in the persona series. Link for those interested: youtu.be/5jaTsI1CBU8?...

It’s also no secret that the Velvet Room from the Persona series was directly influenced by the works of David Lynch, combining the mysterious, otherworldly aspects of the Black Lodge (red room) from Twin Peaks with a nod to Lynch’s acclaimed film Blue Velvet.

While it’s never been directly confirmed by the developers, it’s highly unlikely they were unaware of Twin Peaks when making Persona 4, as the series was a major hit when it aired in Japan. With some holding mock funerals for Laura Palmer and coffee companies hiring its cast members for commercials.

And most significantly, both contain parallel dimensions where malicious doppelgängers of the characters exist, with inexplicable connections to the psychological and moral fabric of our world.

The person tasked with solving the murders is an outsider from the city who knows little about the local community and its insidious secrets.
comment in response to post
Both revolve around murder mysteries that upend the community and directly impact the main cast
comment in response to post
Both take place in quaint, countryside towns that adhere to an older way of life. Where the community is tight-knit -and very little excitement occurs.

guess I’m checking out Umineko then

my favorite bit of trivia about Boktai is that when Kojima initially pitched it to Nintendo he did so by singing a modified version of the Pikmin love theme w/ lyrics about Boktai - and afterwards the Nintendo executives just stared at him in silence.

I’m so close to doing this so I can play DQ-III but I feel like I’ll want to restart Metaphor when I come back to it and I’m already 30 hours in. Why did this block of the year have to be so stacked?

I leave my shoegaze vinyls to nobody, because that’s who appreciated them as much as me

never change Atlus (except this one, deeply unpopular business move)

Considering Vengeance was probably already in development at that point, they probably figured they were better off holding off for the definitive version to get the demo lmao

Am I hallucinating or did vanilla SMT V have a demo? Could’ve sworn I remember one shadow dropping for it but maybe I’m mixing it up with the announcement trailer.

I really need to check out JoJo, I’ve only heard glowing praise for it from people whose tastes I trust 100% love your pfp btw

Big fan of the first two Sonic Adventure games, FF, Persona, and SMT, so you got a follow from me! Which anime are you into?

oh nice, hope you enjoy it! and great choice as far as first live shows go, mine was definitely not as solid of a band as panchiko haha

okay so they’ve been liking all the comments on their instagram from people requesting they play it so there may be hope yet - I’ll update with a copy of the hospital bill if it happens

Thanks! I honestly love every track on this one (it’s only 4 songs) but lately I’ve been coming back to Stabilisers for Big Boys a lot. Eyes of Ibad might genuinely be in my top favorites of all time. Sadly they don’t play it live because they apparently can’t remember parts of it anymore

Thanks same to you with golden sun!

Yeah, the game doesn’t really give the clear warning about missable that it could have. Did you complete all of the major missions with the folks in Xion?
comment in response to post
Oh god, I always forget there was a mobile game. Probably because I’m still bitter that Japan got the DS entry where every copy came with the wizards companion.
