I mean, yes they should invest in social housing etc regardless, idk why it must be tied to police funding?? Defund the military instead, it's much less useful? Any type of state wellfare only works with a functioning police anyways, as those in need cannot ensure their own justice.

I can't speak on these attempts but i have seen what a Good but underfunded police looks like and it's sad. Crime reports pile up but they need to prioritise the worst ones and most remain waiting on desks until they are ultimately closed due to lack of resources.

Yeah I mean they should invest in crime prevention anyway? If the US police is excessively funded they should allocate the fund to where it's needed. From your description it seems to be more education, ethics/values training, social interaction courses, better routines and mental evaluation.

I assumed as much 😊. Don't they need resources to investigate crimes though? To me it looks like US police should lengthen its training, add a psych-evaluation (they stop many bad actors here), increase internal regulations, follow up protocol and heighten weapon safety/control.

I assume that this regards an USAmerican context, but reading this as a Swedish person with a high trust in our well-trained and accountable police, it is a sad statement. Police funding is integral to a functioning society and I'm sure that USAs police problem must lie elsewhere.
