Remember, folks: WEST Boylston has Trump flags in their police station. REGULAR Boylston has orchids and, uh, temperance.

everyone knows "real soon" means something will definitely, for sure, happen soon

Once again, we see the consequences of a statehouse that includes more landlords and property owners than renters. www.bostonglobe.com/2023/04/21/m...

There are definitely people angry about it (see Reddit post below) but I doubt a huge advertising company like Clear Channel cares about complaints. www.reddit.com/r/CambridgeM...

"strategy matrix" is such a wasted combination of two otherwise cool-sounding words.

Truly, an unserious, unimaginative candidate with a palpable disdain for everyone who's **actually** won an election.

Yes, agreed!

Anyway, I think that's all the receipts I have on this guy. Don't vote for him, don't let him take attention away from the serious challengers to Mayor Ballantyne.

Can you believe Mayor Ballantyne appointed this guy to the city's Human Rights Commission? (What does this commission do? They don't publish minutes and their published agendas are pretty bare-bones...) www.somervillema.gov/departments/...

There were a string of local articles published in August 2023 when Somerville PD was ticketing cyclists and Jason Mackey was **always** quoted as the opposition voice. I saw it as a weird reach for name recognition and wondered what his goal was. Guess we know now!

Here he is doing that thing we all love: arguing that Somerville is such a special city that common-sense safety measures adopted elsewhere aren't applicable here. www.boston.com/news/local-n...

This guy actually paid for a blue checkmark on Musk's Twitter! I shudder to think what his LinkedIn looks like. Someone should ask if he plans to run the city on blockchain and generative AI.

To be fair, I don't think anyone is expecting political substance from a venture capitalist. www.athenian.capital/about

His takes on infrastructure are indistinguishable from the typical Facebook boomer post. Socialists! Rotaries! Lot of talk, no substance, just like his mayoral campaign announcement. www.thesomervilletimes.com/archives/127...

Also infamous for arguing that Erika was unqualified because she wasn't a parent. I guess that qualification doesn't apply to his own mayoral run (or his past run against Erika). somervillennial.github.io/Somervillenn...

I last thought about this guy when he was railing against the "socialist" (derogatory) Erika. somervillennial.github.io/Somervillenn...

Any surveillance tech requested by the City must first be approved by the Council and I don't realistically see that happening without a data retention and usage policy discussion. There have been partnerships with ACLU Mass in the past and I imagine that would happen again.

The problem with accepting the terms of this grant every year is that we surrender our chance to negotiate with the state. This is public money set aside for street safety. Why spend it this way?
comment in response to post
Somewhat seriously: some councilor should just put up a sign themselves and dare the mayor to take it down. They all know where to get their lawn signs printed! Easy positive publicity for someone running for mayor.

To be perfectly honest, when I saw this item on the agenda earlier this week, I figured "Hey, these councilors should have my back. They know the deal by now. I don't have the energy to write pleading emails this week, but we should be fine." OOPS.
