[extremely Law & Order intro voice] In my brain, my dreams are represented by two separate but equally important groups: the weird visual dumps of my subconscious and the real songs that play while they happen. These are their stories šŸ”ØšŸ”Ø

I have been screaming pointing at this sign for almost two years now. This shit has happened before, there are records that show where it goes, we could totally read and learn from them, yet everyoneā€™s fucking shocked when Point A leads to Point B again shatterzone.substack.com/p/the-libera...

Lol ā€œstepped aside to allowā€ as if a shocking percentage of his constituency hadnā€™t loudly vocalized disinterest in voting for him months before the primaries where he couldā€™ve given several ppl an actual chance to run instead of ducking out at the actual last minute when Kamala was the only option

So many people know this man has an unfathomable level of blood on his hands, and yet it is somehow so much worse the more you know and look and think about it, like those pictures of the Sun compared to the size of other stars. An almost cosmic amount of preventable death

Years before Oct 2023, Biden had already drastically beat Trumpā€™s record of domestic COVID deaths, & enabling vaccine apartheid contributed to countless international deaths, but his adminā€™s active, sustained burial of the pandemic makes it far less likely most people will remember or even know this
comment in response to post
Literal millions of people had died fully preventable deaths in just America under his tenure for years before Israel popped off, and he couldā€™ve done something to stop it, only to pin it all on the guy who came before him while actively cementing the door open for him to walk right back through

The guy leaving and the guy heā€™s ā€œwarning everyoneā€ about are fucking friends and there are pictures and anecdotes from eyewitnesses, one of which includes Trump telling Biden he approved of the decisions that he made during his tenure. Going down without a single ounce of fight. Historic loser

I donā€™t understand the ā€œhistoric unemploymentā€ (Freudian slip?) shit so many people will drop as a defense of him when an insane amount of workers are barely getting by and sometimes barely even employed. Like how have the supposed beneficiaries of this ā€œhistoric employmentā€ actually been doing

I just watched All That Jazz for the first time and it is maybe the strongest depiction of both sides of this kind of person that Iā€™ve ever seen, especially knowing that kind of person is who made the movie

Been thinking about this since I first saw it & it puts words to something Iā€™ve been thinking about. I think thereā€™s something very revealing about a culture that shames people who are lonely during a historically lonely time. It feels more like a defense mechanism the more I sit with it

Weā€™ve all said the wrong thing or accidentally made someone feel left out, but most of us donā€™t have video evidence of those encounters that can be used to make a public example of how rude we are
comment in response to post
I remember seeing that video and wondering why people were making such a big deal out of it and it does feel suspicious in retrospect. Seemed like the kind of basic social slip up most people do every so often because talking to people can be hard and youā€™re not going to do it perfectly all the time

Yeah idk feels pretty obvious theyā€™ve spent the past decade or so studying the groups most desperate to be acknowledged by mainstream media & used the most bare minimum representation of that knowledge to profit off of them but I guess Iā€™m just being ~cynical~ ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ

I wrote about the end of pinkwashing this summer and wanted to talk about Disneyā€™s relationship to it with a call to that Eisner quote about literally everything they do being connected to their financial bottom line & my editor was like ā€œif thereā€™s new mgmt there then that doesnā€™t really apply nowā€

Oh I HAVE to look into that Dolly Parton cover, thank you for the tip! His covers are great. And yeah heā€™s worked with so many similarly underrated artistsā€” I donā€™t get why more people donā€™t talk about Jeremy Gluck or HTRK, who just quietly keep making great albums

Iā€™ll have to check that out! Get Lost is def underrated. I was obsessed with Nick as a teenager but it was very shallow and brief, while my feelings for Rowland are very mature and defined and have only grown over time. So many great collaborations too, and the documentary about him is so sweet

Teenage Snuff Film is better than any album Cave has made. Thereā€™s just never gonna be another Rowland
