Thinking of cool wild things that have happened over the years. One of my favourite surprise gift arts I ever received was the time my favourite Sonic the Comic artist Nigel Dobbyn drew a portrait of me out of the blue 🥲 Nigel was such a nice guy. To be drawn by him was such a huge honour.

It was always unlikely the sonic movies would pull from something as obscure as the Fleetway comic, but man it would have been cool to see their Sonic 3 story play out. Knuckles actually pilots Angel Island and uses it to attack the Death Egg. This double page spread had me in awe as a kid.

In 1984, McDonald’s tested a POPOIDS Happy Meal. Each toy was 3 random plastic pieces - not bad if you’re going back several times, but virtually unusable on their own. Popoids would return in ‘85, but with a “Crazy Creatures” theme so you could, you know, play with your toy.
